Heartfelt congratulations to the Philadelphia Phillies on their 10,000th loss!

The second and third Gomez albums were good too. (But "Bring It On" is transcendent.) I am fond of a lot of stuff - I have liked The Shins and The Arcade Fire, as well as Wilco (obv.).

Ah, those were the days. That show is really good. Very well acted, at least the first episode.

I know! That's like an acid trip for toddlers! My theory is that it's purpose is to prepare the youngsters for first contact with extraterrestrials.

"Well, you see Willard... In this war, things get confused out there, power, ideals, the old morality, and practical military necessity. Out there with these natives it must be a temptation to be god. Because there's a conflict in every human heart between the rational and the irrational, between good and evil. The good does not always triumph. Sometimes the dark side overcomes what Lincoln called the better angels of our nature. Every man has got a breaking point. You and I have. bjorn_skurj has reached his. And very obviously, he has gone insane."

I first visited that place when I was a real little kid, a couple of years after Clemente was killed. When I saw that statue, I thought they had embalmed him and put him out for display.

Thank you. I have seen that movie quite a few times.

Yeah, but I would think that if it were broken, it would hurt a lot more, no?

Mark Cuban applies to buy Chicago Cubs 42 minutes ago Add internet billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to the list of potential Chicago Cubs buyers. "I submitted an app," Cuban said in an e-mail to The Associated Press. Interested parties must submit an application to Major League Baseball to examine the team's finances. Cuban told the Chicago Tribune he sent in the application last week, although he wasn't sure of the date. Tribune Co., which owns the team, announced in April it was selling itself for $8.2 billion to Chicago real estate mogul Sam Zell, who made the dea

I am not a doctor, but I would take some vitamin I, put a cold pack on it and see what happens. How bad is it hurting?

"You dropped acid, man? Faaaaaar out."

The Young Ones. That shit is funny.

One time in the '80s, my friend and I took acid and put on "Hellraiser." Then we watched Ken Russell's "Gothic."

You need to go work somewhere that does not treat you like a slave or a tool or a slacker, but treats you as a man who likes music.

I tend to gravitate toward Kubrick films, old horror/devil worship/lesbian vampire movies, documentaries of all sorts.

I think that speaks to both the difference between American and Canadian societies - we don't at heart cooperate as well and we think of life as bellum omnium contra omnes or "devil take the hindmost" - and the pervasiveness of the anti-single-payer propaganda effort over the last decade or so.

Paul's Boutique is awesome, as is either of the first two Cypress Hill albums and Radiohead's OK Computer. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and AGIB are both good for that too, but you may forget to skip the drone.

Songs/Albums To Get You Through a Hard Time
bjorn_skurj replied to Degenerex's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yes. Haven't thought about that album for a long time. I use either Husker Du's Zen Arcade or Candy Apple Grey or the Cowboy Junkies' Trinity Sessions myself. -
Yes. If I had not gone to the doctor for a case of pinkeye back in 1998, I wouldn't have found out that I was having a case of Type II diabetes. Prior to that, I did not go to the doctor much, if at all, and only when something was really wrong with me.

This string of threads is becoming tired and lame because....

That was the first inside-the-park homerun in ASG history and not a half-bad game, all in all.

Puh-leeze. The kid deserves a chance to grow up happy and normal, does he not?

If you don't quit making fun of fat people, I'm not going to give you any more layout tips.

I'm sorry, but the number of Python references in this thread has exceeded the Nerd Threshold. Go out and get laid, will you not?

I was going to respond with something along the lines of how I switched to watching the BBC news during the war because of all the hooey and folderol the U.S. networks had on, but since I didn't read your post, I could not respond to it.
