Payback (of the hour of sleep we borrowed last fall) is a bitch.

The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night

Hey, it is definitely a yea. A very well-crafted and complex piece of music. They are officially my new band crush. -
This band was not on my scope until I heard "Albatross" one day on the XMU station and was seriously rocked by it. I just got it from the iTunes but am too beat to listen to it now, but I am excited. What do you all say?
-
Maybe they should have relegation, like they do in soccer. If your team sucks bad enough, it gets to be AAA.
-
Bulleit bourbon is a fine whiskey as well.
-
Man. Under those circumstances, probably not much, I am guessing.

That money talks and all other considerations are secondary. (If I was that guy, I would be pissed off too. Did he get paid much as a result of this?)

Jesus - talk about spineless. According to the BBC, the State Department has apologized to Moammar Gaddafi for dissing him when he called for a jihad (economic, the Libyan leader insists) against Switzerland. (To their non-credit, the Swiss apparently are not allowing minarets to be built in their country.) One, do we REALLY need oil that badly and two, did we ever apologize for trying to kill him back in 1986? Did he apologize for having that plane blown up? Clearly, the U.S.-Libya relationship needs therapy. -
I thought the Gray Album was disappointing, but that could be because as such a huge Beatles fan, I thought DJ Dangersqueak or whatever didn't do the elements justice, if that makes any sense. The bits he chose could have been used a lot more creatively, like those Hood Internet kids do. No, so you aren't.

As a native Kentuckian, I say to hell with Tennessee whiskey!
-
I am going to take the dissenting view and say it's awesome. That whole Hood Internet Chicago thing is awesome.

Heh. I was just asked if I was going to take pics of the latest Tea Party rally here and my reply was, "Tea Party rallies are so 2009."

RIP Mark Linkous ... of Sparklehorse

Suicide is very often the end result of a non- or inadequately treated case of severe depression. An outside stressor could have influenced the timing, maybe. I don't know. -

Sad news. RIP, man. -
Quentin needs to learn to edit himself. The blah-blah-blah really torpedoed that movie for me.

Eh. If you are going to show up a pitcher in such a spectacular manner, you really should expect to get drilled when you face that pitcher again. I really don't want to see baseball take on the level of jackassery one sees in football when a player makes a great (or even routine) play.
-
Not many, it seems, but it doesn't matter - if you have to cough up that kind of deal to sign a top pitcher, then that's the kind of deal you have to cough up.

Earthquakes we can't do anything about. Global warming we can do something about.

I like this show too.

I think you would have to calculate how many extra starts Sabathia, Burnett and Pettitte made as a result of the three-man rotation and then make a guess from there. Two apiece, maybe, if even that?
-
Pitchers get what the market bears, and probably a little less, as I find it hard to believe collusion has been wiped out, especially with an ex-owner as a commissioner.

I know Illinois is awful as well, but we here in The Empire State have gotta be setting some kind of record: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0310/33893_Page2.html New York gone wild By: Ben Smith and Glenn Thrush March 4, 2010 04:57 AM EST Once a source of national leaders of both political parties, New York state has descended into a bizarre, riveting spectacle of corruption and political debasement, with its governor facing calls to resign as well as new charges of accepting illicit perks and lying under oath, the dean of its congressional delegation giving up his g

Thank God China is putting some of the money we send to it back into the United States. Arthur Jensen: [bellowing] You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won't have it! Is that clear? You think you've merely stopped a business deal. That is not the case! The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country, and now they must put it back! It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity! It is ecological balance! You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are -
No shit. I would like to see poker eliminated as a televised event, unless it starts being of the "strip" variety.

God also made the duck-billed platypus, so there's that.
