Why would it not be twenty or thirty years? Since Reagan, with the exception of Clinton as President, the nation has been rolling to the right. Obama will have his challenges (understatement of the century), but if he can make it even look a little bit like things are going in a good direction, it could put the right out to pasture for a very long time.

Pretty amazing to see either of those teams put up over 40 points. What happened? I was watching and figured, alright, this will be like 6 - 3, and then the Vikings marched right down the field and scored and then the Bears followed suit. Kyle Orton looks pretty sharp this year, actually.

The Packers are a good team, though. That defense was flying all over the place today (and getting away with a handful of things, I agree). It's not like Indy got whipped by Oakland. Green Bay was an overtime loss away from the Super Bowl last year. Outside of injuries and the whole Favre thing, they're the same team. Plus, Rodgers has been stellar.

I haven't been paying attention. Who are you backing and why?

That Richard Lewis needs to finish a sentence before starting the next one. I could ramble more effectively for eight minutes on national TV.

We're liberals. We're not looking for success. We're looking to game the system for an easy ride. -

I've wanted this for years. Of course there is the argument that the general population isn't privy to all the factors that go into setting a budget, which is true, but I do think something like this could work with some sort of proportional layout. Example: you pay 25% in taxes. 17.5% can be distributed as normal, the rest can be distributed to certain sectors of your choosing. I'm not nearly intelligent enough to know if that is plausible in any way, but it sounds good to me. -

The same price as a single bomb. Which one is the better investment? (Though, for the record, I'd only want my life extended if I felt good at the same time, which is usually not the case with cancer treatments) And exorbitant costs are offset, to a degree, by preventative care. It's not cost-effective to be healthy (or smart or financially sound, but those are different stories) in this country, so you end up with epidemics before you begin to address the issues that are the leading causes of our swelling health care tab. Besides, if you're insured, you are already "paying" for my million -
I agree. Color me excited for the new one.

Alison. Happy birthday. I hope Kris got you a dirt bike. Also, you share a birthday with Kathleen. I didn't know (or forgot) that.

I don't think people are doing this. I think they're (or at least I am) arguing that you can leave your child 9/10th of the money he/she was going to get before and an America that is hundred of times more prepared to offer that same child security, education, health, and employment. -
Maybe. Mangum is out and about again. If Jeremy Barnes was on that tour, they'd be reunited right there.

I never though I would live to hear somebody complaining about the Red Sox not getting enough coverage in the media. That said, I tend to agree. I'm certainly no fan so not hearing about them has been pleasant but very odd.

They sure looked like shit tonight. Everything is very uncertain for it being this late in the season.

There are people in the world who work hard for the money but simply don't make enough to live at a fair standard. Like it or not, the American dream is a myth and the class you are born into is the class you are going to stay in. There are exceptions, of course, but you have to understand that hard work is not everything. A poor kid births another poor kid, a rich kid births a rich kid. And I agree, hand outs as they are currently structured can be a negative force in terms of motivation to work hard, but the same thing that applies to the welfare mother has to apply to the student attending -

This is one of the lamest posts ever. I understand that you and I likely have different philosophies on how to run a country, but all you need to do is take a look at the current president to see how flawed your logic is. You act like it is only the poor who would have the gall to work "just enough." How about John McCain who would have been kicked out of the military at least four times if his dad wasn't his dad? Did he bust his ass to become a senator or did he know the right people? We all feel we deserve more. One group defines more as money, the other defines more in terms of living sta -

I'm pretty sure this is not what any of us want. Maybe some of us, I guess, but certainly not the majority. We want those tax dollars to go to fix schools, roads, invest in new technologies and energy sources, subsidize vegetables (if grain subsidies are sticking around) to ensure healthy eating, health care for children (at the very least), etc. And I think we're all more than willing to pay our share. Of course, making sure our tax dollars actually go towards helpful stuff rather than the defense budget is a whole other issue. I don't see how any of this is socialism or a redistribution of w -

Right. Like I'm all for abortions anytime before age 13, but I understand when people don't necessarily understand where I'm coming from on that one. Sucks to get stuck with an ugly kid, though. No doubt about that. -

The intrigue in here tonight is almost as good as the "Ayers babysat Obama's kids" intrigue all over the blogs. October!
