  1. That mind left body jam is awesome
  2. oh no doubt it seems accurate but its just humors because they got her to do an interview for the doc and she goes on about how wonderful the ties, ice creams and action figures are.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong but the oringal three LP's didn't have the full concert? Cause the only "filler" on the box is the rehersal takes. I'd say the full show is defintly worth the listen as well as the tracks written for the film.
  4. I didn't see that but have you guys seen that made for tv doc about the current affairs of his state. Lets just say they don't paint debra Koons the nicest picture.
  5. the 4 disc is the box set, just make sure you get the special edition dvd its only one disc Used to watch this all the time till some asshole stole it.
  6. this is the lil bush clip, i've never seen the show outside of this but phils segment is very funny. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/lil-bush...dead/2595029784
  7. wow, was that announced in advance? And I agree with you about Highly Suspicious, it made me laugh but thats it, the chorus sounded like mettalica with prince in the background.
  8. great point about jay, but i guess many would argue he had a hand in the songwriting. As for Jays great production, I think a lot of the summerteeth stuff is over done, although the material is some of my favorite. And while YHF was my favorite wilco record, as time has passed I much prefer the live takes
  9. I'm gonna allow this conversation get back to where it started but check your inbox Chompsky, I'd like to continue talking if you don't mind.
  10. Well I try not to watch crap but yes. Women aren't the only ones in are society getting objectified. There are many unnecessary pressures placed on men as well. Allison "you're" right, I really do need to work on my grammar.
  11. You don't like Jim's voice? Damn, I love "Answers" sounds like a cleaner early Tom Waits. As for them not recording a great album with Nels. Sky Blue Sky doesn't really give Nels room to shine, but when he does it steals the album (his lines on "Either Way" and "You Are My Face").
  12. I've recently been going to see The Deep Blue Organ Trio at the Green mill. I really am digging Foreman's B-3 leads. Any recommendations for some groups with an organ up front? All I have is a Shirley Scott album, which is good but laid back.
  13. \ thank ya thank ya! Was digging the new songs I herd, although i didn't hear the whole set. But someone clue me in was there background vocals about Peanut Butter at one point loL?
  14. My argument is that many women are manipulated from day one. Markosis: Your right this was about commercials, I brought it up because I think it relates.
  15. Well talking Eyes and that 73 run. I love the jam out of Eyes into China Doll, phils bass on the intro to this tune is awesome. Also I'm sure you'd include the 06/16/74 Eyes into Big River, what a transition! Is there a circulating copy of this show where the first set doesn't have major sound issues?
  16. Your right people with beards and long hair get the same treatment. And its ridiculous. If your girlfriend/wife/lover asked you to shave your legs cause she thought your leg hair was gross I would imagine you (or many) would think twice. Your right there isn't any direct oppression going on at a lips show. THey aren't telling you not to like women who go against that image, but they are promoting said image. And for a band that preaches equality, well I don't know how you can take them seriously. As for you Chompsky: Your dam right I have my views and I'm glad you have yours.
  17. so any chance someone will rip this. ive been craving a sbd of night 5
  18. This goes out to Hype as well. Just because somebody goes along with something doesn't mean they aren't being objectified. And the point you made Hype hits the nail on the head. MEN LIKE WOMEN that way, not women naturally decided shaving their legs and pits was awesome. If women don't conform to these standards they will be ostracized by our society. A women with hair on her legs is natural. But being natural won't let her get a job on wall street, or a lead role in a movie. Society (run by rich white males) has shaped what it means to be a women, that idea doesn't sit well
  19. Happy B-day PHLESH! Were you at the Phil show two summers ago in indianapolis? I was just listening to that show the other day. Also that winterland run is gonna be awesome. I hope they don't do the limited number of prints like they did with the fillmore box.
  20. speaking of Kurt Elling I just saw him at the mill last friday. The show was great although he seemed to have been dabbling in the nose candy. He did do his fantastic version of Resolution.
  21. Joshua Redmans latest is fantastic its called "East West" I'm going to see him in two weeks. I'd also recommend Roy Haynes's "Love Letters", it features Redman, Dave Holland, John Scofeild and some other great players. As for Scofeild I'd also recommend his collaborations with Medeski Martin and Wood. There solo material is great too although they often get lumped in the Jam scene. Oh and Pat Martino!
  22. Yeah it was me. The issue is extremely important weather its in regard to the lips or any other form of entertainment. Sexism is everywhere in our culture and personally I think its awful to see a band using a good message and not mean it. Wayne seems to be full of shit. I used to be a big supporter of The Lips but they dont practice what they preach. Its the exploitation of a good message to create a false image to help sell concert tickets. I fully believe in the right of artistic expression. I wouldn't have a problem with their show if they weren't verbally sending a contradicto
  23. why is the objectification of women not serious?
