  1. It's All The Same To Me, which is a terrific song (although maybe the album version suffers a little bit from the production).
  2. Damn, I've just been catching up. What a shocker. I've been hearing way too much about people passing away lately, and this is saddest news yet... I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Nat a few times, I think most recently at Jeff's solo show in Portland in early 2006 (on the tour for the Sunken Treasure DVD). We were standing next to each other at the front of the stage and I remember chatting with her before the show started and thinking, 'Wow, this is the first time I've really had a chance to talk to her. She's very cool.' I also have a distinct memory of her hanging outsi
  3. could be worse-you could be in philly. not that i have any great love for philly, but I believe the show there next month will be the band's first in those parts in almost three years. the band itself doesn't have much to do with where specifically they're going to play, anyway. i mean, if they wanted to line up a new york gig (or anywhere else), they could obviously, but i believe that the intent of the february run is to mostly hit some places they haven't yet behind sky blue sky.
  4. I still remember your elk stew from one of those VC summits at Lou's house forever ago. You're a fan of the game meat, I take it. Anyway, hope you had a great day (sounds like it...)!
  5. hope you got some dough to burn-those are some of the nicest hotels in chicago.
  6. Awesome photo, B! You didn't mention the Jon/John/Pat/Howie (the crowd member/drummer) take on "Sentimental Lady," which I know made at least one person swoon... Britt did "Everything Hits At Once" and "The Underdog" on acoustic guitar with Jon on piano and Chamberlin before John, Pat and Howie joined them for the Beatles' "I Feel Fine." And the Autumn Defense set included "The Sun In California," "Bluebirds Fall" and "Spend Your Life" and concluded with the aforementioned "Sentimental Lady." And Jon's closing salvo of "Cortez The Killer," the Springsteen homage with amazingly improvised l
  7. Hey Mart...I'm flying home that day, so weather permitting, I'll be there! (It might be a little tight timewise, though, so if it's OK, I might need to borrow your keys before the show to throw my bags in your car. )
  8. Why would you want to lose Glenn?

    New Year's Eve

That would be pretty random. I'm thinking no...
  10. I wouldn't hold my breath. NFTS isn't technically a Wilco song, and Venus isn't something the band has ever officially released. There's probably a better chance of hearing Just A Kid or Let's Not Get Carried Away or something like that, I'd think...
  11. Been meaning to chime in on this... If you have any hope of making it to Mart's show on Jan. 3, do what you have to do to get there. Not only is he marvelous and will have a great band playing with him, an all-original set is a rare treat. One of the pleasures of living in the NYC area is getting the chance to see Mart play so often. And Tualla, I'm going to be really sad if your visit happens when I'm not in town. See what you can do about that... (I really will be sad, though.)

    9:30 !

I don't get what you're pointing us to, if anything (except that this venue's dressing room for the headlining act apparently has a big hot tub). Are you saying the band is playing this venue, or...what exactly?
  13. Looks like John Doe is listed as opening the Philly and Houston shows, at the very least. Maybe the band will work up an X cover. Yeah, probably not.
  14. I got my passenger window smashed in there after Jeff's solo show a couple of years ago. Nothing got stolen, fortunately. There was apparently some sort of neo-Nazi rally there the next day. Not a great place, in my experience.
  15. Can't believe no one's posted about five nights at the Riv in February yet! :blink On Wilcoworld
  16. Their main set was all originals, though I'm not sure anyone but them and maybe their parents know what the titles are. Their encore was covers of "She Don't Use Jelly" and "Sweet Home Alabama," which are among their "standards." At one point, one of the comedians sitting in the front row yelled out for "Heavy Metal Drummer," which is I guess a little bit of a running joke. Spencer, not missing a beat, looked over with a little smile and said, "Maybe next year." As a band, they definitely have come a long way since their first show at Letters to Santa a few years ago.
  17. Translation, please. For those of us challenged in our knowledge of Canadiana.
  18. If it's the one that Glenn has been doing in most of his solo sets since Mobile came out, it's most likely "Undi
  19. Is that Gary Oldman's brother? I have no leads, but it would be kind of awesome if Will Oldham played at 5 a.m. when the crowd will be down to about seven people.
  20. didn't you know they're living a semi-charmed kind of life? sorry couldn't resist.
  21. Here was the complete setlist for Night 2 in Dublin a.k.a. the last show of the year (War on War wasn't played as previously mentioned, though it might have been on the printed setlist): Via Chicago Either Way You Are My Face Company In My Back IATTBYH Kamera Shake It Off Handshake Drugs Impossible Germany Forget the Flowers Too Far Apart Hate It Here Walken Theologians I'm The Man Who Loves You Hummingbird On and On and On ---------------------------------- Misunderstood Far, Far Away Side With The Seeds A Shot in the Arm ---------------------------------- Jesus, etc. The Late Greats Heavy

  23. Since no one has apparently posted the setlist for this show yet, I guess I'll do the honors: Sunken Treasure You Are My Face War on War IATTBYH Pot Kettle Black Side With The Seeds Shake It Off Handshake Drugs A Shot in the Arm Radio Cure Impossible Germany Sky Blue Sky Too Far Apart Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You Hummingbird ------------------------------ California Stars Jesus, etc. Hate It Here Heavy Metal Drummer ------------------------------ Via Chicago> Spiders (Kidsmoke) It was a somewhat muted show, compared to the other two I went to on this Spanish tour (and I'm sure Barce
  24. I was so busy cringing that I didn't hear the part about getting a life. Duly noted, though. I'll see what I can do. And Dunja, it's a lot cheaper to fly over in November than, say, summer. Hotels are cheaper, too. Wish you could have been here. Now can you do something about that euro-dollar exchange rate?
