They and their families apparently were vacationing on the same isolated beach in Mexico a couple of years back, two cabins away from each other. And at least according to Jeff, the person staying in the cabin between them was an Uncle Tupelo fan...ha!

Here was the full setlist, as best as I could cobble it together through the stories, interruptions, etc. I also have who requested what (when Jeff announced it) in case anyone's interested. I'll probably butcher the spelling of a lot of names, though. Spiders (Kidsmoke) [started, messed up, stopped] The Community Song, part 1 Spiders (Kidsmoke) Someday Soon -Bubba the bus driver story- Radio King She's a Jar The Family Gardener Cars Can't Escape The Community Song, part 2 -apology to Aaron (sp?) for not playing On and On and On- -Grammy/high school reunion story- Pecan Pie The Ruling Class

I'm sure he would be quite insulted. He does have a way with the ladies. (Mart, you think Craig would be amused to learn he's being discussed on the Wilco message board?) P.S. The last couple of times I've seen Mart, he's done great renditions of Jesus, etc. and Misunderstood.

URGENT: Mart, it appears I need a #5 and a #7! Hope those aren't OOP yet... (I'll pick up a #8 sometime soon, provided they're printed and ready to go. )

the stardog ages another year. wow, pretty soon he'll be 20! have a kickass birthday, my man (can I call you a man now?)

Oh, I can't wait! Personally, I'm eager to relive the New Year's show so I can remember something other than several dudes' really loud voices screaming out "Psychokiller!" in my ear.

H and Z...I must say I'm impressed by your fangirl/fanboy zeal. Get a room already, will ya?

It's All The Same To Me, which is a terrific song (although maybe the album version suffers a little bit from the production).

Damn, I've just been catching up. What a shocker. I've been hearing way too much about people passing away lately, and this is saddest news yet... I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Nat a few times, I think most recently at Jeff's solo show in Portland in early 2006 (on the tour for the Sunken Treasure DVD). We were standing next to each other at the front of the stage and I remember chatting with her before the show started and thinking, 'Wow, this is the first time I've really had a chance to talk to her. She's very cool.' I also have a distinct memory of her hanging outsi

could be worse-you could be in philly. not that i have any great love for philly, but I believe the show there next month will be the band's first in those parts in almost three years. the band itself doesn't have much to do with where specifically they're going to play, anyway. i mean, if they wanted to line up a new york gig (or anywhere else), they could obviously, but i believe that the intent of the february run is to mostly hit some places they haven't yet behind sky blue sky.

I still remember your elk stew from one of those VC summits at Lou's house forever ago. You're a fan of the game meat, I take it. Anyway, hope you had a great day (sounds like it...)!

hope you got some dough to burn-those are some of the nicest hotels in chicago.

Awesome photo, B! You didn't mention the Jon/John/Pat/Howie (the crowd member/drummer) take on "Sentimental Lady," which I know made at least one person swoon... Britt did "Everything Hits At Once" and "The Underdog" on acoustic guitar with Jon on piano and Chamberlin before John, Pat and Howie joined them for the Beatles' "I Feel Fine." And the Autumn Defense set included "The Sun In California," "Bluebirds Fall" and "Spend Your Life" and concluded with the aforementioned "Sentimental Lady." And Jon's closing salvo of "Cortez The Killer," the Springsteen homage with amazingly improvised l

Hey Mart...I'm flying home that day, so weather permitting, I'll be there! (It might be a little tight timewise, though, so if it's OK, I might need to borrow your keys before the show to throw my bags in your car. )

Why would you want to lose Glenn?
-
That would be pretty random. I'm thinking no...

I wouldn't hold my breath. NFTS isn't technically a Wilco song, and Venus isn't something the band has ever officially released. There's probably a better chance of hearing Just A Kid or Let's Not Get Carried Away or something like that, I'd think...

Been meaning to chime in on this... If you have any hope of making it to Mart's show on Jan. 3, do what you have to do to get there. Not only is he marvelous and will have a great band playing with him, an all-original set is a rare treat. One of the pleasures of living in the NYC area is getting the chance to see Mart play so often. And Tualla, I'm going to be really sad if your visit happens when I'm not in town. See what you can do about that... (I really will be sad, though.)

I don't get what you're pointing us to, if anything (except that this venue's dressing room for the headlining act apparently has a big hot tub). Are you saying the band is playing this venue, or...what exactly?

Looks like John Doe is listed as opening the Philly and Houston shows, at the very least. Maybe the band will work up an X cover. Yeah, probably not.

I got my passenger window smashed in there after Jeff's solo show a couple of years ago. Nothing got stolen, fortunately. There was apparently some sort of neo-Nazi rally there the next day. Not a great place, in my experience.

Can't believe no one's posted about five nights at the Riv in February yet! :blink On Wilcoworld

Their main set was all originals, though I'm not sure anyone but them and maybe their parents know what the titles are. Their encore was covers of "She Don't Use Jelly" and "Sweet Home Alabama," which are among their "standards." At one point, one of the comedians sitting in the front row yelled out for "Heavy Metal Drummer," which is I guess a little bit of a running joke. Spencer, not missing a beat, looked over with a little smile and said, "Maybe next year." As a band, they definitely have come a long way since their first show at Letters to Santa a few years ago.
