I think Jeff just started to realize that the more he egged them on, the more loud and obnoxious they were going to get, so he stopped. From my vantage point, that was kind of the gist of the look that Nels gave Jeff. Actually, the hooting and hollering wasn't that obnoxious, really. I think part of what Jeff meant with the whole "we come over here to get away from you people" statement was just that that sort of stuff happens all the time in America and maybe being in Europe, there's some hope that it won't be as prevalent over here. no, to clear up any misunderstanding, it was with the whole band. i just noted jeff and nels because jeff has played the song with both electric and acoustic guitars and nels has played it with electric versus lap steel, so i wanted to note the variation. pat also stepped out to "the front line" with an electric guitar for that one, which is what he has been doing. the other guys played their normal roles, and quite nicely i might add...

Just a couple of other notes from the show last night... --On And On And On was originally slated to be the first song of the second encore, but Jeff changed the order after he came out and said what a sweet audience the Dresden crowd had been. I took down the setlist for that one. It's accurate, believe me. The recording of the show that is circulating was almost certainly done by my friend, a noted NYC taper. If so, it's an audience recording but a high quality one because I remember him bringing in his rig and good mics that night. It was a sweet show.
