If this is true, and it makes sense that it is, then that does suck for you Charlestonians. But at least they've already got a rescheduled date up. I know Spoon had to cancel a couple shows when they were offered SNL, so it's probably something that happens fairly frequently. Can't really pass up an opportunity to be on national TV on a highly visible show...

Bryce Desner (of The National) + Glenn Kotche w/ Matthew Richie

I wouldn't do that. -
Hey Charles...I just wanted to say fabulous work, as always. It always puts a smile on my face when I see one of your pictures up on Wilcoworld, because I know the work you put into shooting each show and what a big fan you are. I think it's great the band has found a way to use so much of the fantastic talents of its fanbase lately, like your photos and Johnny's posters. I'll see you again, sooner rather than later I hope. I look forward to seeing your shots from this past week when you get them processed!

I'm extremely, extremely bummed to not be able to go these, but unfortunately it just can't be helped. I'm developing a very poor track record when it comes to Glenn's NYC appearances. First, the Mike Patton/Rahzel gigs at Warsaw, then opening for Andrew Bird at Radio City last year. Anyone who can go to these gigs, though, should. I bet they will be quite awesome. -
I have no insight about when stuff taped at the Residency would air, or in what format. As far as I know, we're still waiting for (or perhaps cringing at the thought of) that footage from last summer's show at the Pines Theater in Northampton to show up. That was supposedly shot for some VH1-related thing as well, wasn't it?

FYI: Becca's last name is Michalak, I believe. I know she's done a few shows with Nels in LA and Denver in the past. And I can't really add anything to what's already been said here, but thanks for all of your contributions the past week and for heading out East next week.

maybe the best discovery, aside from tasty $3 mystery brews, was that a certain vc moderator (cough...maudie...cough) is a guitar hero prodigy!

aww, that was sweet of Basia. you've been doing a great job with the virtual street team, T. too bad that i didn't get to Chicago just a few days earlier to catch her show here. would have been great to see her do that Sam Cooke song.

I know TJ had a pretty serious health scare recently. Glad to hear that he's doing better!

Who are you again?

Yeah, Evonne...that's the all-you-can-eat bacon place. Unfortunately, I think you'll be somewhat tied up on Monday night....

Happy happy day, m'dear! I'm sure Mart will serenade you with birthday melodies a'plenty... Here's to another great year filled with more meals at Dino, plenty of wonderful vino, fun-filled road trips, shows at Largo and of course, a national championship for the Terps!

A handful, sure. I was mainly referring to the top of the list - Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, John Mayer, 311, Phil Lesh and Friends, Primus - that isn't my cup of tea.

Jeff is one of Hollywood's most sincere-seeming celebs.

That was a pretty random article. It was unclear who actually said the quotes about the various "celebrities." -
I feel sorry for Of Montreal and a couple of others on that list. Yeesh! Where is this happening? (So I can avoid it.)

They have it available for download in 10 parts on that link. It's just Jeff and Jon Langford talking, though. Not the music itself-guess there are rights issues with that. Anyway, my favorite story Jeff told was about meeting John Cale once and how he looked like Richard Simmons. Ha!

Seconded. Their specials this week sound amazing, particularly this one: The Kris Larkin (Blue Cheese Pork Sausage with Pear Cr

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that "Entire Recorded Works" will be defined as the stuff that's on the full-length releases -- AM, Being There, Summerteeth, YHF, AGIB, SBS plus Mermaid 1 and 2. In other words, don't get your hopes up for, say, "The T.B. Is Whipping Me" or stuff off of demos, etc. I would guess that the Mermaid Stuff will probably be limited to the stuff they already do, i.e. California Stars, Hesitating Beauty, Remember the Mountain Bed, Christ For President, Airline to Heaven, One By One, Hoodoo Voodoo and maybe Another Man's Done Gone. I would be mildly surprised (tho

Great seeing you last night, Drew. That room is a bit hoity-toity for my taste (and the ushers can be a bit uptight and the tickets pricey), but it's a gorgeous space and the sound is immaculate. It was a treat to see Joe with guests Brad Mehldau on piano and Don Byron on clarinet (for two songs), not to mention that fabulous rhythm section.

Hope you have a great day!

Ah, I see. Well, I certainly wasn't doing any whoo-hooing (except during I'm The Man ) or making random song requests, so I think I should be safe. A repeat performance this year?
-
Me? Eesh, I hope I don't show up on the tape anywhere...

I share your love of random shows. Road trip?

they are if you like super fun power pop with boy-girl harmonies and somewhat enigmatic lyrics. oh, and canadians. (seriously, if you get a chance, check 'em out!)
