  1. I think it is new and I'm horrible with lyrics, but here's your clues. "And we can try and not be over." "And if we can't fight then we can't find (?) it."
  2. i think i made my first mix tape 14 years ago at thirteen...went something like last beat of my heart- siouxsie and the banshees in dreams- roy orbison louise- human league sweet dreams- split enz all in all- dexy's midnight runners weight of the world- erasure somebody's cryin- chris isaak just like you- roxy music this must be the place- talking heads sweet thing- van morrison spring collection- the vapors Achin to be- Replacements Throw Your Arms Around Me- Hunters and Collectors Sometimes- James Lose this skin- Clash Western Sky- American Music Club Sun Gone Down- House of Freaks Joan
  3. I love Steve Wynn...but if I remember Medicine Show is a little sparse on the Gem's. I think I remember enjoying Out of The Grey a lot. Where did you hear the re-issue info? btw- I haven't been able to listen to Steve Wynn since The lead singer of House of Freaks was murdered (They played a lot together in Gutterball...Wynn's best stuff in my mind)...I still get chills when I think about that.
  4. I always found it interesting that "Laid" was big in the States but not as much so in England. Maybe I overstated on Dexy's...but I do think "Geno" went number 1 in England.
  5. Good choice! Have a great time!
  6. I've always felt bad for James, Crowded House, and probably Dexy's Midnight Runners for getting lumped in with being one hit wonder bands in the States...if all you get is what radio feeds you how does one get into Wilco? I bet the chances of James touring the states is pretty slim. Maybe they can do a "We don't like America" tour with Jarvis Cocker and Manic Street Preachers.
  7. i guess it is the "Seven" line up which was 15 years ago. They make sure you hear Andy's trumpet. I love the album so far once I get past feeling a little silly singing along to songs like "oh my heart" and "upside." But...i also loved Millionaires and Pleases to Meet You, which most people seemed to ignore. Hopefully we get b-sides.
  8. Any thoughts on the new album? My toes are in, but haven't gone all the way into it yet. I'm sure it won't bring back my childhood, but hopefully it will be inspiring none the less.
  9. It is a pretty safe bet and a lot of people use it. Captains on yachts that do weddings especially. Good idea to check with the Secretary of State website of your state to see if you even need to do it...some states will give you a deputy of marriage for a day certification.
  10. I find the "ego" argument against Ralph to be developed by "cut and run" democrats within their own democracy. I think Ralph would be a great president. Can you imagine him pardoning a turkey? I can't. And I can't vote for a guy who has the nerve to ensue that a vote for him is a vote for hope. I'll take Nader's record and word over Obama's any day.
  11. forgot "if no one's on your canvas I'm aching to be."
  12. 3. "Miracles always happen when they have to and as it happens i expect one tonight in your pretty flower bedroom." 2. "You lit a fire in me I can't seem to put out." 3. "A good day is any day that your alive."
  13. 16 horsepower "nobody cept you" world party "What's a sweetheart like you doin in a dump like this"
  14. I LOVE THIS ALBUM I can't think of another musician (neil finn) who (almost, see ya round is the only exception I can think of) consistently produces better work. He's been putting out records for 30 years!
  15. death- wilco, neil finn pity party- mark eitzel, red house painters spiritual upliftment- James, Hothouse Flowers romance- tom waits had me a girl works every time throw on some p funk when your ready to move on
  16. The La's Convoy The Vapors ALT- tim finn, liam omaonlai, andy white- still my favorite album.
  17. Is this shameless self-promotion if I claim it is God's will? www.themeaningplace.org
  18. Anyone know a good resource for finding musicians? I'm a non-demoninational minister in Orange County looking for someone that can play some really "spiritual" tunes...Jesus Etc. etc.
  19. The El Rey in 2001 think it was the first touring without bennet. Remember hearing much of the crowd (a big commercial for male pattern baldness) talking about how shitty the stuff from the upcoming album sounded. Great show!
  20. I remember listening to the song on repeat on 9/11
  21. ERASURE liking what i'm hearing from the the new manic street preachers record too, although it might be one of the corniest albums i've ever heard.
  22. I have this book lying around someplace but only remember getting to about page 20. Was I in a bad mood that day or is it as badly written as I think?
  23. on the squeeze bandwagon "sweets from a stanger" with "when the hangover strikes" and "black coffee in bed" i like me some red house painters to grieve over the last nights regrets summerteeth to let me know everything is going to be ok
  24. Why is it that albums get better after the next one comes out?
  25. There is a definite shift in "voice" from the beginning of TFC and into Thirteen that I never really understood. I really thought Man Made was a great album I normally suggest Songs From Northern Britain as their best. Shows you what a great band they are when there are so many different opinions
