Spidersman
Has anybody travelled very far ALONE to see a Wilco show. I went through a terrible breakup with my ex a couple months ago and we had tickets for William and Mary and the Charlottesville shows. About a 5 hour road trip... Should I still go by myself? I've never seen Wilco.
Wendy
Absolutely! It's not very fun to stay home when your first live Wilco show is happening without you! With your recent break-up, it'll do you good to get out of town and change your scenery. Grab some bliss because you need it, and it's right there if you just go get it. Get there early, talk to the people in line next to you, get up close in front of the stage, and you will have a great time! Pretty much you're guaranteed your first Wilco show will make you very very happy! "Do not postpone happiness." Jeff Tweedy, or some Buddhist lady, or both. My first Wilco show was alone, at Otto's in DeKalb, IL, on 4-21-2003 --- exactly 3 years ago today! I was so completely mesmerized and blown away by that show that I promised myself I'd keep going to every show that I could, you know, within reason. I haven't regretted a single road trip, either. Along the way I've met some great people who, like me, were going alone to shows (not just Wilco, other bands too). Now we're buddies and we don't travel alone anymore. I decided not to stay home back then, and it was the best decision ever.
Albert Tatlock
What she said. My first post here was to ask about whether I should go and see Wilco in London and come out of virtual gig-going retirement a few years ago. No regrets!
Nobody Girl
Last year I flew to Chicago all by my lonesome to see Tweedy solo (I live in Philly), and it turned out to be one of the best weekends ever.
Maddie Hope
Absolutely! It's not very fun to stay home when your first live Wilco show is happening without you!Wendy said it wonderfully... I travel all over the southeast for shows all alone.... Part of the fun is the road trip, seeing new places (and old) meeting new people...You will not regret it at all and Wilco will surely rock your world...
alison the wilca
yeah, you should go. in 2002 i flew from my then home in LA to go to the Colombus and Ann Arbor shows and it was one of my favorite memories. i had so much fun! it kinda forces you to meet new people. someone even told me i was their idol because i had flown to the show alone. anyhow, go!! parisisstale
Been to 2 Wilco shows and 1 Jeff solo by myself and had a blast each time. It really did get me to talk to great people that I never would have otherwise met. Definitely do it !!! Who knows, maybe you'll meet your next girlfriend .
thisyearsgirl
go! i just drove eight hours to see wilco in nashville a month or so ago and have gone as far as nyc by myself to see elvis. i always meet very cool people at shows, so i never really feel alone. plus, on road trips alone, YOU and you alone control the music, which i always love. (seeing that i tend to be an obsessive listener; ex. drove to memphis and back listening only to elvis costello albums a few years back!) plus, if you ask, i am sure there are other vc-er's that would love to meet you there and say hello! IATTBYB
Go . . . And then wait around the tour bus, meet the band, pull out the cell, call the ex and have the band tell her that she missed the greatest rock show ever!
awatt
Definitely go!! I went to Jeff's show in Denver alone, had a few drinks, and had a fine, fine type. Also went to Knoxville alone, driving up from Atlanta. My wife couldn't make it so I gave her third row ticket to young college student seeing Wilco for the first time. This is the best band in the world at the moment... Now I'm wondering if I should take the long drive to either of the Virginia shows, which I would love to see. Hmmm.... Does anyone know about future tour plans this summer? AWATT
miss jayne
Pretty much you're guaranteed your first Wilco show will make you very very happy! "Do not postpone happiness." Jeff Tweedy, or some Buddhist lady, or both. I went to see Wilco based on advice from Wendy...traveling alone has never been anything but an adventure for me and I always meet interesting people. So, I say go for it and if you can throw in an art museum or a beautiful park more power to you!

Spidersman
Well.... I am on my way. Just left the house. Kinda excited... a little worried. If anybody sees a 6'10" guy wearing a black sweatshirt type track jacket with gray stipes on the sleeves. or a green poncho, that will be me. Come say "hi".
