Stupid Newbie Question

Recommended Posts

That's because I call 89.3 The Current at 11:00 p.m. everyday and request Wilco. Hah! I don't even live in Minnesota right now (I'm in school in Madison, Wisc.) but that is the best radio station in the world and I still call to make requests. It's no. 5 on my speed dial. :music

Yeah, the Current rules! I listen to them occasionally online, but I haven't called in a request :P

I have heard "California Stars," "Handshake Drugs" and other random Wilco songs several times, mostly on college stations. I have heard a few other tunes at stores.

Who is the woman in the "A Shot in the Arm" video? I wonder if she's a paid actress or what.

That newbie does deserve a good bashing. :headbonk Welcome.

Thank you, sir. May I have another? :worship

In Philly, you can hear Wilco fairly regularly on WXP (88.5). If you're not familiar, you can listen online at www.xpn.org. It's consistently voted the best commercial-free, independent radio station in the country and is the home of the World Cafe with David Dye (syndicated on many stations around the country).

Jeff usually pops in the studio whenever they are in Philly and therefore, the station has some great rare tracks (an acoustic solo performance of She's a Jar comes to mind).

Check out the station online.

Mostly on WXRT though as opposed to the more conventional stations, but at least they get played reasonably often on XRT.

When I got in my car for work this morning and the tunes started playing, I realized it was "We're Just Friends." I thought it was pretty cool that the local station was playing such an off-the-beaten-track Wilco tune, so I went to see what station it was. Low and behold, I'd forgotten I'd popped in "Summerteeth" last night on the way to a meeting.

There's a great station out here called The Mountain that seems to have a "just play cool stuff" format and very few commercials. Although I don't listen to a lot of radio, when I do it's this one. They'll play Wilco every now and then, and not the typical stuff, sandwhiched between an old blues number and some Hot Tuna or Leo Kottke. Gpod stuff.
