Calexico
I'm in the dark on this -- do tell . . . Collaborative album between Jay and Anders Parker of Varnaline. A disc recorded before Okemah, I think, but not relased till now. GOB IRON"Death Songs For The Living", the new album from Gob Iron, a collaboration between Jay and Anders Parker (Varnaline), will be released on October 31 through Transmit Sound/Legacy. The album features very different takes on American folk standards. Also known as the

socbret
Can't wait for the show Friday at The Parish in Austin. Anybody in the area should go, Jay and Anders are both playing a solo set and then preforming their songs from the new CD.
watch me fall
Is it true that on the Gob Iron tour, both guys will do some solo stuff and then do some Gob Iron? I was really hoping to catch one of these shows but doesn't look like it's in the cards. Edit - Well nevermind.
Analogman
Yea - I'd like to have it. It would probably only take the dudes at the cd place a month to get it.
candyfloss1214
I think the album comes out on Friday, maybe. We are seeing them at the Park West in Chicago on Sunday night. Each guy does a solo set and then they perform together. We are looking forward to seeing Jay at Park West-it's a pretty intimate venue.

truetolife
I picked this up on Halloween and I agree it's a great album and it is along the same lines as UT's March album, but thats a good thing. Anders Parker was a member of a band called Varnaline, but now does solo work, his songs on the album kind of remind me of Billy Bragg's tracks on Mermaid Ave. I wish they would come to the southeast for atleast one show, I hate I'm going to miss them live
