Dreamin'
I wanted to eat there when I was visiting Portland, but my friends insisted that we find some "real food." Pffttt! Doughnuts are, in fact, nature's most perfect food.
wheelco
well, I've been to Portland, Maine and THAT place is really cool but Portland, OR spawned The Decemberists, so it can't be all bad!

Sandoz
We have a lot of love for Portland. The wife and i make a yearly trip out there and hit Cannon Beach each time we go. We had to stay in Seaside last time we went, not as nice, but cheaper lodging. Finally hit Tillamook too - great cheese factory (and I am originally from Wisconsin!). As far as Full Sail goes, isn't it brewed in Hood River? The brewery in Bend is the Deschuttes Brewery. Great beer and even better food (if you are ever in Bend). I believe Full Sail is brewed overlooking the Columbia River and Mt. Hood. Aw, the memories, such a beautiful place...when the sun is shining. Next time you are at the coast, drive about 15 miles south of Cannon Beach to Oswald Beach. It's a wind-protected cove with a beautiful beach, tidepools, and tons of surfers. You have to hike about 1/4 mile from Highway 101 to get to the beach, but it's a gorgeous walk and well worth it. There are camp sites too. Yes Full Sail is in Hood River and Deschutes is in Bend. Black Butte Porter is the nectar of the gods

P Dub
I LOVE Portland!!! I went out there in October for Bob and had a great time. The best beers in the world. My favorite being BridgePort IPA. I went back out in November for Lee "Scratch" Perry at the Crystal Ballroom. That place was incredible! I spent most of my time around the Hawthorne District. Can't wait to go back! Maybe for Neko and Merle next month!

farva
you were right by my house! i live in the arboretum; the wildwood trail is in my backyard You're lucky - that's one hell of a city park! The wildwood trail is the one we followed, it was beautiful on such a nice day. Cannon Beach ... equally as beautiful:

rwrkb
i've lived just outside of portland (forest grove) for five years now. i try to make it into the city as much as possible. and honestly i think it's one of the nicest cities in the country, and i've been to more than my fair share. the weather as of late has been pretty insane, but appreciated since i miss the snowy winters of alaska. i was over in seaside (close to canon beach) when it snowed there it was awesome, snow all over the beach. i'm having film developed and if any of them turn out i'll drop one or two in here. but portland is great for a lot of things, music, books, very accepting people, and a liberal air that i appreciate, though others might not. i'm not sure i've ever seen evidence that ptown is dirty, but it is fairly artsy as a whole compared to a lot of other american cities. but that's just my opinions. rambling as usual. jenbobblehead
oh portland. what a great place. I remember driving out to the Dalles and getting apples the size of a baby's head. and spring skiing at Bachelor? cannot beat it with a stick. i'd move back in second, but i admit to feeling a little too far away from my family...
