You Can Be The Stone
SBS seemed to have a lot of Pat and John's influence; I hope the next one has a lot of Glenn and Nels' influence
Sir Stewart
SBS seemed to have a lot of Pat and John's influence; I hope the next one has a lot of Glenn and Nels' influenceI hear a lot of everyone's influence on SBS, no one more than another (except that one dude). Sounds like the most band album Wilco's done yet, to me.
Wilco LP #7
I've been a long time follower of viachicago, but have never felt the need to post anything until now.... My dad's cousin (my cousin once removed) is John Stirratt and he just replied to one of the emails i sent to him. He said that we should be expecting the next album pretty soon and maybe within the the year.  ...just some food for thought. Ya know, a quick follow up wouldnt surprise me much at all at this point. The band is in such a creative groove, and since Jeff isn't writing music that so dramatically pains him anymore (Summerteeth, YHF), making more music is really the only thing to do. **** They should call it "The Freewheelin' Wilco" ****

OCP003
Just to let you guys know, most major recording bands always record over, if not WAY over, the number of songs to appear on the album. If it makes the album, it makes it, if not, it gets stored away for later use, or no use at all. RHCP's Stadium Arcadium is a double disc, and they supposively had over 20 songs that didn't make the cut. I also heard that weezer recorded 40 songs in 2 months. Most mainstream bands are required to record X amount of songs so the A& R guys and top dogs have more power to choose which songs make the cut and what songs don't. Thank God Wilco has their say about what songs go on the album....most bands don't.

I'm not trying to be smug. It just really seems that people are getting their hopes up way too quick. SBS hasn't even come out yet. ha

you ever seen a ghost?
...and in case you missed the couple of other posts that backed that up. -justin (officially with his hopes up).
Gobias Industries
I definitely think that Wilco will make a hip-hop record next. I mean, Tweedy rapped on ITMWLY, it's not that big of a stretch... Wow, a new record in less than a year? That's virtually unheard of in Wilco.

welch79
actually, i think all three of those songs would fit quite easily onto SBS. -justinagreed.
humbum
I have been thinking that there was a massive tour ahead with an album to follow maybe 18months from the release of SBS...but now maybe album first then massive tour! Get Europe done- come back do a few dates around the U.S then back in the studio- new album- Tour like mad! That sound even better! Album maybe 9 months from SBS-woah. that would be sweat! giraffo
is it just me, or does AGiB feel like a collage album? I say this, because somone said 'Company in My Back' may have been on the eight track album, and some songs are very odd and some are very straightforward.

yankhotelfox
Pat said at the Mercury Lounge show that they had enough extra material for another album and that it could likely be done sooner rather than later. True story, not b/s about anyone's uncle or cousin or mother's, sister's husband's brother, working in the gold mine full-time filling in for sunshine. That would be pretty cool. Maybe "Is that the thanks I Get" will make a studio appearance.

sean Patrick
this is great news.hopefully this will give the avant garde fans more to swallow, seeing that they cut back on sbs.im a fan of both, but honestly, think, they are so good at being experimental and they have to popular mainstays of it in the band at the moment (nels and glenn), why not? oh by the way, a funny thing i would like to pass on... i saw them last in e. lansing with my band mate, eric. i saw pat walking in close proximity to us and told eric to look behind him. eric said hi to pat and he walked over. we all said hi. then eric says this."i really like your windmills."pat smiles and says, "i didnt invent them, pete townshend did."eric: " i like your stylings of them."pat staggers away from the lack of oxygen to his brain. pat looks so young from far away, the baby of the group.up close he looks a bit older.   see you.
