Analogman
Oasis, The Killers to record new version of 'Sgt Pepper' 04/06/2007 1:00 PM, Yahoo! Musiccourtesy of NME.com Oasis, the Killers, and Kaiser Chiefs are to cover songs from the Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band to mark the 40th anniversary of the classic album's release. The original album was released on June 1, 1967, and to mark the event the big names will all be covering tracks from the record for a BBC2 special to be aired in the U.K. on June 2. Razorlight, James Morrison, the Fratellis, and Travis are among the other acts taking part. The BBC reports that Geoff Emerick, the engineer in charge of the original sessions, will use the same equipment to record the new versions. Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said: "This will be not only a unique radio event, but a very special musical moment. The range and quality of artists involved ensure that this will be a fitting tribute to one of the great albums of all time." There is no news yet on which track the artists concerned will cover. cryptique
Huh. I can't stand the Killers, outright loathe Oasis, and Sgt. Pepper is one of my least favorite Beatles albums. How could it not be awesome?

cryptique
Considering that Frank Gorshin's been dead for two years, that's obviously not going to happen. Oh, and thank you for reminding me of that steaming pile of cinematic feces.

P Dub
I thought Aerosmith was great as FVB, but that was back when I was like 14 and before they went into rehab.

LouieBAnd as their punishment, the careers of the Bee-Gees, Peter Frampton and Aerosmith went into the toilet. I hope the same thing happens to every band involved in this new atrocity. Calexico
Every band mentioned on that first post are fucking awful. They should all be put in a room together and be set on fire. The Mojo cd is THE worst free cd I have ever gotten in a magazine. Completely unlistenable balderdash.
Analogman
I have yet to keep any cds I got with a magazine - except for the one with When The Roses Bloom Again on it.
Calexico
I always keep stuff from Uncut and a few various others. More out of a collector's fever than anything else.
