Mrs. Peel
not gonna lie, i was hoping for it to blow me away as we've been anticipating it so long... but it's still a really solid effort for sure My expectations were SO high for this, I don't think anything could have lived up to them. Absolutely a solid effort though, but it's way too polished for my taste. Especially when you're used to seeing him live. I'm reminding myself that this is actually a couple years old at this point too, and if he were to record another album right now I suspect it would sound a lot different. That said, I'm still really digging it. And lyrically, it's still 100% Trucker Jason.
solace
for sure.. it still blows the shit out of the last DBT album, that much is certain
Mrs. Peel
I don't know about that....I'd say SOME Ditch songs blow away SOME Blessing songs. OK, maybe MOST Blessing songs. I've been endlessly tickled by the fact that every time I listen to the beginning of Try, I expect him to say "you can't make a woman out of me!" One more thing too, is it me or does Hurricanes and Hand Grenades belong on a Sharon Jones record, not Jason's?
