you ever seen a ghost?
my friend just bought the Damsel album on vinyl. i haven't heard it, but he says it's awesome. -justin
deepseacatfish
I don't think you can go wrong with any of his stuff really. I started with "The Giant Pin" and that's a really solid record, with a good mix of sort of spacey stuff and really brilliant wailing. If you like left-field jazz try either his set of Andrew Hill stuff, or Interstellar Space Revisited.
yankhotelfox
If you like left-field jazz try Interstellar Space Revisited. The recreation of this classic Coltrane record is a little bizzare, as are most of his albums. "The Inkling," one of his most recent, if not the most recent, is good. "The Inkling," one of his most recent, if not the most recent, is good. The Inkling is very good, but it is not new. I don't know the exact release date, but I got my copy at least four or five years ago, and it was not his newest release then. Anyway, good call on that one. It's a bit mellower, with Nels playing a lot of acoustic guitar. I want to check out that Damsel release. Destroy All Nels Cline is amazing. Both N. C. Singers albums are top notch (new one coming out pretty soon). There are a bunch of great ones.

Wilco LP #7
I'm pretty big into Banyan, they rock. Nels isn't at the center like he is on most of the other reccomendations, but he rules when he needs to, and everyone else does too.
WaronWar
I start off with "The Giant Pin" because has a lot of Cline's different styles of him on there. But if you like weird shit get: Edible Flowers (Cline and Devin Sarno) Destroy All Nels Cline Instellar Space Revisted Four Guitars Live (Sonic Youth's guitarists, Cline, and Giffoni) Something a bit more normal rocking: Butch (Geraldine Fibbers) Contemplating The Engine Room (Mike Watt's solo record) Banyan Also, check out some of his first trio stuff, which I am starting to because it's fantastic too. There's tons of records of his and other projects, so find what you like and you should be set. And as other posters have already mentioned, there is a new Singers album coming out this Month. So look for that too. Good luck.
HighFives
Pillow Wand w/ Thurston Moore is super good. you should get that if you come acrossed it.
Kicking_Television
The giant pin for sure... simply for the song "Something About David H." that song is utter genius
jff
And as other posters have already mentioned, there is a new Singers album coming out this Month. So look for that too. Good luck. Do you know the release date for the new one? Thanks.

Do you know the release date for the new one? Thanks. Oh, I just rememebred... Nels did a bunch of songs with the Blue Man Group on their album "The Complex". I haven't heard it, but that might be a fun off-the-wall Nels recording to hear...plus, you can often find copies of that album in bargain bins.
Ludwig Von Drake
I can't seem to get into Nels at all... am I missing something?
Hixter
Do you know the release date for the new one? I think it's June 26th. Nels' MySpace page and Cryptogramophone website will be streaming a new track every week beginning on May 15th. I can't seem to get into Nels at all... am I missing something? You certainly are.
