dondoboy
I've been listening to the album proper for 5 days and I get a Zeppelin feeling. I haven't listened to a Led Zeppelin album in years until yesterday to hear what I thought was something similar. The riffs on Hate it Here and Walken, the drums on Shake it Off, even the build up before the end on On and On and On. Everyone brought up The Band, and I hear that on What Light, but I think parts certainly sound similar to '75-era Zeppelin.
froggie
Walken definately has some zeppish riffs in it.. sounds like Led zep II era

Drazil
Didn't Glenn Frey co-write a lot of SBS? Or was it Don Henley?
caliber66
Timothy B. Schmit, actually. I don't really hear any Zep on the new album, but I don't listen to much of them these days, so I could very well be missing it.
Drazil
What rock band DOESN'T sound like Zep?

Drazil
A lot of the guitar work on AGIB sounds like David Gilmour. Snap - just as I typed this - Wish You Were Here started playing on Radio Paradise.
mountain bed
I don't hear any Zep. One of those SBS reviewers (I can't remember which one) said "It's obvious that Tweedy has been listening to alot of Grateful Dead". That shit cracked me up.

foolnrain97
A lot of Glenn's licks and fills are definitely Bonham-esque(especially after watching what he's playing on the DVD), though I don't think I hear many other "Zeppelin" qualities. And the rest of Glenn's playing is pretty minimal and subtle. I would not use either of those words to describe Bonham's playing. My 2 pennies.

tblair
But Nels didn't play on AGIB anyway.that's very true... and very dim of me!!I relate to most of the trcks on AGIB the way they're played live, with Nels, and keep forgetting that he's not on the original album... (myself) I spent the entire bike ride into work this morning trying to come up with a moment on SBS that sounds like David Gilmour, and couldn't think of one. Now I find I read the thread last night the same way you did. Definitely the solo in "Hell is Chrome" comes straight from the Gilmour playbook...
