borracho
i'll probably be in Chicago at the end of June and want to enjoy a Cubs/Brewers game in the bleachers. i've sat in various other sections of Wrigley, but want to try out the fun of the bleachers. They're obviously sold out of them, so I was wanting to find out the best way to get some? craigslist? ebay? scalpers outside? probably not gonna be cheap, right? i just don't wanna get scammed/ripped off... cryptique
i just don't wanna get scammed/ripped off...Your chances of not getting ripped off are pretty slim, sadly. Maybe try stubhub? Legalized, online ticket scalping. There are also scalpers with offices in Chicago (they'll call themselves "ticket brokers" or some other bullshit PR-friendly phrase). myboyblue
Unfortunately, Stubhub is probably the only way to guarantee yourself some tickets in the bleachers. If you are going soley to enjoy Wrigley Field experience, that is probably the way to go. It's completely overpriced but they don't seem to have quite as much scalping of bleacher tix as they used to.

borracho
paying too much for bad seats to see a bad sports team -- are you sure you're not from cleveland?ha! no, oklahoma... thanks for all your replies, good, bad, and nonsense... i've sat everywhere else in Wrigley for a game when i've visited except the bleachers - figured it'd be a fun experience, you know? Stubhub may be the way to go... i've already been to new Comiskey and really have no plans on going back... what a sterile place to see a game...

Try ebay for your bleacher seats. Should be cheaper than stubhub. Oh, and if you go with stubhub, you can save money if you are willing to pick up the tickets at their pick-up location (near the stadium) vs. having them shipped. Edit: stubhub adds 10% to their posted prices, plus shipping costs. Looks like ebay has some for $50-75/ea.

USCellular has actually upgraded the place significantly. It's a great place to see a ball game and you'll save money. The downfall is the night life after the game. If you are looking for a party, go to Wrigley. If you are looking to watch baseball, go to USCellular. Oh, and Fenway is a dump. Not sure how it outranks Wrigley. Not sure how it outranks Wrigley.Personality. Once they added lights, Wrigley's only claim to fame is its ivy (plus the Cubs' history of futility). Look at the architecture and the field itself: Symetrical, clean, even, boring. Fenway has the monster, the deep well in right that juts in severely to Pesky's Pole. A dump? That's just part of Fenway's charm. Among the new stadiums, I just love love love love PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Now if only it housed a team worth a crap.
LouieB
At the moment both Wrigley and the Cell are dreadful places to see baseball...both Chicago teams are in a deep funk as far as I can tell. Wrigley is the place to go for pre and post game night (or day) life, the Cell is greatly improved and does in fact have far better food and more knowledgeable baseball fans. The downfall is the night life after the game. If you are looking for a party, go to Wrigley. If you are looking to watch baseball, go to USCellular. Completely agree. I have never understood all the heat that park has taken. Is it the best in the majors? No. But it is definitely far from worst. A solid upper-middle of the packer. When the park first opened, it was praised and everyone loved it. It wasnt until the whole "retro" phase kicked in immediately thereafter (i.e. Camden Yards) that suddenly everyone turned against it. Personally, I dont like the retros...dripping with fake tacky nostalgia, looking backwards rather than forward. And now theres a glut of those cookie cutter designs. When the Cell opened it was rather sterile. But the improvements they have implemented almost total the cost of a new ballpark. And its a damn good one at that. Food? Some of THE best for any sporting park/arena. You can tailgate before the game. Best modern scoreboard in MLB. Great sightlines from just about everywhere. From the upper deck you get skyline views. Kid friendly. Easy parking. All sorts of cool "alternative" places to watch the game (wide concourse, Bar next to the bullpen, field level patio, Fan Deck in center field, restaurant/club in right field, Fundamentals Deck in left field). And the people there truly care about the teams performance. And yes, the nightlife is somewhat limited. But as Bridgeport continues to grow at a breakneck pace, that will hopefully change eventually. (And I've never understood those who call the area "bad". Its a classic Chicago middle-class neighborhood)
jenbobblehead
i have very much enjoyed my two trips to US Cell. Although it was pretty hot. and the food is definately better than at Fenway, but the food at Camden is good too.

(And I've never understood those who call the area "bad". Its a classic Chicago middle-class neighborhood)Bridgeport has never been called "bad", instead it was the area to the south and east. As I was driving down the Ryan a week ago I witnessed the very last building at Stateway Gardens (Federal Street) being torn down. This massive public housing project, once total hellhole, is now gone, making way for new housing (not sure where the actual people went from Stateway, but that is another topic I suppose) and what will undoubtedly be a fairly upscale area. There is plenty of nightlife along the entire Michigan Ave corridor all the way to the loop and many restauarants. Sure it isn't Wrigleyville, nor will it ever be. By the way, I sat in the furthest seats in the upper corner of the Cell last year, straight out from the first base foul line and you could see great and had a great time.
