VC 'interview' with Tweedy?

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's a shot at categories....

- Sky Blue Sky (but I'd suggest people read the recent interviews so we don't duplicate what we know already)

- previous records, Wilco/Loose Fur/UT etc

- what's happening now with Jeff's side projects

- Jeff's songwriting process

- Jeff's musicianship development

- books Jeff has been reading

- records Jeff is listening to (again, check interviews where he already has mentioned The Byrds, Fairport Convention, etc)

- Jeff's internet habits

- Jeff's interaction with fans

- Jeff's relationship insights :)

- Jeff's parenting insights

- Jeff's views on the political divide in America

...everyone please add/subtract/change the above.

How about tour-related questions? I wouldn't mind hearing about what life is like on the road with Wilco. What is a typical day/night like? Strangest song request ever yelled out?

Oh, and if we go with the interview-by-stalker-waiting-outside-the-bus option, I volunteer for LA at the Greek.

"Umm, Jeff? Remember ... uh ..... when you were like in that band Uncle Tupelo, and you, uh, wrote that song Gun, and you said ''cause my heart it was a gun, but it's unloaded now, so don't bother'"?

"Yeah..."

"That was AWESOME"!

Definitely made my day! Haha! :rotfl

And we feel okay about VWs. Several of us even drive them.

Alright wise guy. Specifically who drives VWs in the band, so we can be more accurate in deciding who in the band has sold out?

Also, at what point during the recording process does the band get to hear the kind of explanation of songs as given during the SBS DVD interview segments - if at all? Bits of information given out as they ask, a sit down and 'let me tell you about this one' minute or two. Left up to their interpretations? How does it happen.

A part on touring would be pretty interesting. Just going by my various friends who have toured everyone of them has different yet really cool expierences and habits. Plus everyone ends up really liking some cities or venues more than others. It'd be cool to find out what some of their favorite venues and places outside of Chicago are. Whenever I ask a band this question it always gets a really different and cool response, it's not always what you'd expect.

maybe expand the side-projects category to contain all of wilco's side projects instead of just jeff's. ok, he can't truly speak for everyone in the band, but i have a question in mind that relates not only jeff's side projects but everyones. :)

i second the touring category.

I really liked the parenting category (got 3 of 'em, nary a dull moment), but haven't seen any questions in that yet. So here's a matched pair...

What's the most important thing you've learned from having kids?

What's the most important thing you want your kids to learn from you?

This is a cool pair of questions!

But whoa, whoa, all you energetic and enterprising Mickey Rooneys and Judy Garlands.....this is a very fun idea, but it needs to be thought over and given clearance through your friendly neighborhood Via Chicago management, if it is to fly under our auspices.

Give us a bit of time to huddle & discuss, ok? Thx! :thumbup

Awwww... c'mon Donna. Can we ask him? Can we ask him? Pleeeeeeease!!! We promise not to ask about his shoes,* underwear, or anything too private.

*I can't totally vouch for everyone here on the shoe thing. For some reason over the years his footwear has been a rather disturbingly detailed area of discussion.

I asked him about his shoes once - it didn't go well.

Hey, little dolly with the blue jeans on

I wanna ramrod with you honey, till half-past dawn

Let your hair down sugar and pick up this beat

Come on and meet me tonight down on Bluebird Street

I've been working all week, I'm up to my neck in hock

Come Saturday night I let my ramrod rock

She's a hot stepping hemi with a four on the floor

She's a roadrunner engine in a '32 Ford

Late at night when I'm dead on the line

I swear I think of your pretty face when I let her unwind

Well look over yonder see them city lights

Come on little dolly 'n' go ramroddin' tonight

Come on, come on, come on little baby

Come on, come on let's shake it tonight

Come on, come, come on little sugar

Dance with your daddy and we'll go ramroddin' tonight

Hey, little dolly won't you say you will

Meet me tonight up on top of the hill

Well just a few miles cross the county line

There's a cute little chapel nestled down in the pines

Say you'll be mine little girl I'll put my foot to the floor

Give me the word now sugar, we'll go ramroddin' forever more

Money shot?

OK, you Rooney Garlands, stop spray-painting all the background scenery and sewing interviewing costumes....cute though they most assuredly are....:yes.....I'm going to close this thread for the time being, as suggested by jc4prez, until your friendly neighborhood moderministrators have had time to discuss the feasibility of this idea.

We'll get back to you. :thumbup
