MrRain422
Gotta love a game where neither starting pitcher makes it out of the second inning. Although it looks like only 3 of the 8 runs Clemens gave up were earned, so he got railed by some bad defense backing him up. Not sure why they would need to pull him so quick, other than to save him from the fans.
benjamin
Ne1 watching ESPN's "The Bronx is Burning"? I enjoy it. Someone should do a mashup movie of the Bronx is Burning and Son of Sam.

MattZ
The Giants give us Armando Benitez and they are paying for his entire salary. I love this trade, to be honest. Hey Nerdy - I will let you take this statement back. But just this one time. Tough game last night for your boy.
tongue-tied lightning
Because he's an awesome player and the Reds aren't stupid? maybe awsome, but he'll be leaving as a free agent soon, so getting somethingfor him would be a good idea.
Sir Stewart
I'm a Yankee-hater and all, but this is really sad, if true. TRAGIC MADNESS OF KING GEORGE - BABBLING BOSS 'SHOCKS' PAL - By DAN MANGANAugust 3, 2007 -- A new report paints a disturbing portrait of Yankee owner George Steinbrenner as a befuddled, bloated old man in "dreadful" shape who bears little resemblance to the once-feared Boss.An apparently addled Steinbrenner, 77, repeatedly said, "Great to see ya," to nearly every question, no matter what was being asked by a longtime friend during a recent visit, according to an upcoming article in Cond

Eh, I still like the move at the time. It didn't work out, oh well. We didn't give up anything for him, and we aren't paying him anything.

bjorn_skurj
I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone in Quebec gives a shit about the Blue Jays, or baseball in general. And, obviously, I dispute the lumping in of the entire upstate New York region as Yankeestan.
Lammycat
I saw this on another site and thought some of you would get a kick out of it. It's in regards to Wade Boggs. Supposedly he got pretty lit up on beers at the AS Game and is reported to have downed 50+ Miller Lights on road trips when he played ball (east->west coast flights, etc.). http://groovyshoe.imeem.com/blogs/2007/06/...origin_of_boggs
bobbob1313
Has anyone noticed that while Youk's is having an insane year, his walks are way down? Last year he walked 10% of the time, but now he's only walking about 7.7% of the time. But he's also cut down on the strikeouts. Any of you Sox fans see a change in his approach, or is he just swinging really well and not bothering with walks so much? I only ask because he can't hit .350 all year, and eventually he's going to fall back down to earth and probably finish the season at .300 and if his walk rate isn't there he's much less valuable. Basically, he's going to need to hit .300 in order to be as valuable as he was last season, and judging by his history, I'm not certain he can do it. I can see him falling off big time, I just hope he starts walking again. Good job, asshole. You broke Kevin Youkilis. Since I made this post: .245/.376/.329 Ouch.
Lammycat
Since I made this post: .245/.376/.329 Ouch.Yeah, Youkilis has definitely cooled off BA-wise but still is an asset. He's still hitting .358 this year with RISP. The last two years he's hit .342 and .366 BA in the second half. I thing he's pretty useless in the 5-hole where Francona has had him the last few months. Tonight, he's being moved back to the 2-spot where I think he can do a lot more damage. He's great at working pitch counts. I'll bet he starts putting up better numbers if he's kept in the 2-spot. That's an inspriring story. And to think I used to hate that guy.. I'm wondering if Miller ever thought of using Boggs as a pitchman for their schwilly beer.
