watchtower41
An asking price is just that -- an asking price. I could ask for $1000 each for mine, but I doubt anyone would pay it. It'll be interesting to see if this particular pair comes down or goes up in price. Well as of right now, this is the only pair available anywhere. No pairs have even shown up on ebay yet, but with these being 4th row, I wouldnt be surprised (even for that price) if theyre gone before Saturday's tickets go on-sale. Like it or not, this is pretty much going to be billed as the biggest Wilco show ever. As it is, its pretty damn difficult to sell tickets through any band that uses musictoday pre-sale... they have a good working system and where its not sclaper-proof (and what is?) this is the reason why we all get our tickets only a mere week before the show. Then again, these could be from a season ticket holder?? Is there such thing for Pritker?? Do they get tickets for this show?
LouieB
Juding by how crowded the Decemberists show was, I certainly hope they limit the amount of lawn seats they sell. It's a big venue and that was a free show, but Wilco at Millenium Park? It's gonna be CROWDED.Judging from the Decemberist show expect the lawn to be a zoo. 7000 (is that correct??) on the lawn at Pritzger is going to be really really tight. I couldn't get on this morning and probably can't on Saturday. Luckily I have seen Wilco alot. I suspect I will just have to imagine how great a show this is and maybe travel to a different city to see them again. There appear to be lots of tickets at other venues around the country. (Come on Ft. Wayne, we are all counting on you......) Needless to say the good old days may be gone. The last time Wilco played Grant park (same basic set up, but more room), it was free and the lawn never did fill completely up. LouieB

aricandover
Like it or not, this is pretty much going to be billed as the biggest Wilco show ever. eh, playing Madison Square Garden on New Years Eve is a much bigger deal.
sureshot
eh, playing Madison Square Garden on New Years Eve is a much bigger deal. I would agree. However, I don't think the demand was as great.

I am expecting more shows in Chicago this fall, so I'm not too upset. I doubt this will be their only date.
Nope- no depression here
New listing on stubhub for a $75 lawn ticket- where you aren't guarenteed to see anything. Crazy.

sureshot
so I'm lost. only 10% of tickets have been sold, correct?
zebra
Give or take. Wilco might have only had less than 10% considering the already low amount of tickets.
sureshot
right, so that means 90% are up for sale on saturday. i mean, i think chances are pretty decent you can snag something through ticketbastard.

The last time Wilco played Grant park (same basic set up, but more room), it was free and the lawn never did fill completely up. LouieBI remember that. In 2001 for the free XRT 4th of July show, you could walk up right before show time, lay your blanket down, and not worry about being within 10 feet from the next person.right, so that means 90% are up for sale on saturday. i mean, i think chances are pretty decent you can snag something through ticketbastard. Not quite 90% . . . there's an XRT pre-sale (probably with mostly lawn tickets) on Friday. zebra
there's an XRT pre-sale (probably with mostly lawn tickets) on Friday.Since I haven't lived here for awhile, why do you think it will mostly lawn tickets?
Chris_H_2
Since I haven't lived here for awhile, why do you think it will mostly lawn tickets? Because everyone always gets their hopes up for radio-station pre-sales, yet are always disappointed when they realize that they would have been able to pull better tickets through the general public on-sale had they just waited. Pre-sales do not necessarily mean better tickets.

aricandover
Pre-sales do not necessarily mean better tickets. yup. pretty much, the best seats are held for the public on sale date.
zebra
You guys don't think it will sell out as fast as this morning, right?
Guest Jules
You guys don't think it will sell out as fast as this morning, right? It probably will. Honestly, I wouldn't get too worked up over this show. Chances are high they will play other shows in Chicago, maybe even later in September (Auditorium?). This outdoor show will be cool, but it's more of a novelty thing than anything else. Don't get me wrong, If I was going to be in town, I would likely be dropping the big bucks to a scalper, but that's because I'm an idiot.
zebra
It probably will. Honestly, I wouldn't get too worked up over this show.I am not getting worked up about it, but I have never seen them live and been waiting to since '04. And now that I moved back to Chicago, it would be so cool to see them here.
Prose
I got thru on my 3rd or 4th click sec 103 row Q. After being greedy for Last year's Auditorium and being shut out, I figured I would grab these and it looks as if I was lucky to get some. Was a little shocked at the price ($53 total) but don't really see many shows any more, and it should be a great venue to see them. I also have a feeling they will play Chicago again later in the fall. I got the impression, that last years thanksgiving shows were a "renewed" tradition.

Its a LONG wait outside, but its as close to a guarantee that youre gonna get for this show. I had every intention of doing this is if didnt score something yesterday or Friday in the pre-sales. WilcoOfTheDay
I'm mad that I can't go. I wish it was on a weekend, I really thought it would be. Now I don't know when I'll ever get to see Wilco again.
