tugmoose
Of course I kid. They proved to be a team with more passion and more of a will to win than the Mets were. I'm just still picking up the shards of my shattered, orange-and-blue heart. This really is going to be one amazing post-season. Lots of great pitching, clutch hitting, and late-inning heroics in store. I'm actually glad I don't have to stress over the Mets and can watch and enjoy each and every game. Best of luck to everybody who has a team in the dance!

ction
I wish the entire post season was going to be on TBS (I'm assuming Fox is still scheduled to ruin the championship series and WS). The broadcast was relatively low-key and complimented the game, as opposed to the Buck/McCarver close-up-on-each-manager-between-every-pitch wankathon.

Lammycat
The Rockies have actually pounded Hoffman on a pretty regular basis for the past few years. I mean, Helton's 13 for 22 against the dude.I knew the Rockies have fared well against him at home, but in today's Rocky Mnt. News: Hoffman is 1-3 at Coors with a 5.59 ERA. Overall, against the Rockies the last three years, he's allowed them to hit a .357 BA and he's been lit up with a 9.00 ERA. So yeah, I guess it shouldn't be too surprising the Rockies got to him when they needed it most.
cryptique
Fox baseball broadcasts suck ass ... even worse than their football broadcasts, and that's saying something. TBS's coverage was pretty close to what I want from my baseball broadcast: pleasantly dull so as not to distract from the action on the field. Fox could learn a thing or three (hundred) from TBS, but of course they won't.
ction
I wish all sports broadcasts came with the option of accessing an alternate audio channel which only carried sounds from the on-field microphones and stadium PA. It would be so great to not have to hear the booth guys running their mouths for 3 hours.
Twisted Acres
ah, Mart... I really really really dislike the Mets, but - as a kindred baseball freak - I do feel for you. Enjoy the playoffs, my friend! As thrilled as I am that the Rockies are still alive, there is something to be said about not having to bite your fingernails down every day... though I have none left after tonight. I'm thrilled for you especially, Bridget, not a bad birthday present, eh? Hopefully you can get some tickets! Bring some Bit-o-Honeys to the game so you don't have to bite your nails. tongue-tied lightning
who do I root for ? guess the Cubs & Rockies. Angels in the AL. Can Hoffman really be put in the Hall with the amount of blown saves he has in big agmes ? NO Hall for you !!
MrRain422
I agree with all the FOX haters here. It's as if FOX hates baseball, but they just keep broadcasting it anyway. Anyway, let's do this. Philly over Colorado in 4Chicago over Arizona in 4 Philly over Chicago in 5 New York over Cleveland in 5Boston over Anaheim in 4 Boston over New York in 6 Philly over Boston in 7 I'm pulling for the DBacks, but I don't think they really have much of a shot. I do this for Bears games.
Mystik Spiral
You could listen to the radio broadcast. It's usually more tolerable and with less bullshit. I do this for Bears games. We tried that last night, but the delay was awful... at least 7 seconds. I remember the good old days when the radio & TV synced up pretty well. I guess this is what the Janet Jackson's of the world do for us.
ction
Yeah, I don't know about baseball (I watch Red Sox games during the season and don't have a radio alternative), but for Redskins games the delay in unbearable. Plus those guys aren't much less annoying, really.

Plus those guys aren't much less annoying, really.I find it much easier to watch football without the audio than baseball. With the exception of a handful of play-by-play and color guys in baseball that I can't stand, I'm usually pretty happy with the volume on. With football it's like a sensory overload with non-stop talking. It's the nature of the sport, I suppose. Of greater import is that it is becoming increasingly more and more intolerable to stomach all the noise at the ball parks. Maybe I'm just getting older but the constant blaring of music between AB's, innings, pitcher changes, etc. is a drag. At Coors field you usually have to abort any converstaion during these times. Also, the constant reminders to "CHEER NOW!!!" or "MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!" are lame. The times dictate that constant hype/noise must fill all silent voids, I guess. Attention spans are at an all-time low. Like little kittens or something. Give me a couple of riffs of "The Adams Family" off of an organ now and then and I'm happy. It's not just baseball games, either. I left a major league lacrosse game earlier this year for the same reason. Although I'll say that the major league soccer game I took my kid to over the summer was a very pleasurable night.
