Lammycat
That was Buckner's lucky glove, apparently. He hadn't played for the Cubs for a few years at this point.
ZenLunatic
you know. i want it to be enough that they got to the playoffs after the crappy start to the season...but it isn't. hopefully saturday they'll stage a miracle comeback. Yeah, its never enough when you are still alive. After the season, we can look back and and appreciate the Division title, they are somewhat rare for the Cubs. Momentum needs to swing in a big way. Its not over, but we do need a spark to start the forest fire. I'm staying hopeful till the end.
quarter23cd
Kudos to the Indians for making me smile last night. I don't have a horse in the race this year (or any of the last 10 or so), so Yankee-hating is about all I got. Ousting the Evil Empire would be sufficient to get me on the Tribe bandwagon. Heck, I might even be willing to apologize for when I was in college at Ohio State in 97 and my roommates and I were all from out of state and were annoyed with the Tribe-bandwagoning around campus, so the night the Marlins beat the tribe in the WS we drove around all night until we found a place in Columbus we could buy Marlins t-shirts to wear around campus the next day and chant "Ren-te-ria! Ren-te-ria!". Good times.

EL the Famous
i actually like seeing that...they should get pissed off. After the season, we can look back and and appreciate the Division title, they are somewhat rare for the Cubs. As a whole, yes...but the last one was just in 2003. It was enough then, today not so much.

ZenLunatic
As a whole, yes...but the last one was just in 2003. It was enough then, today not so much. I know what you mean. I want more 2. I want to get to the World Series at least. I was at the playoff game that year when Prior won over Maddux, that was the best Cubs game I ever went to and the loudest I ever heard it. I was pretty sure we win the whole thing then. We were good that year. It's kinda diff now, I am wishing to win the whole thing this year.
Edie
Are those for Cubs fans to shoot themselves with or to drink themselves into a stupor with? BTW, I do want them to win. However, I am gratified that I cured myself of the cubs fandom enough as to not have it hurt if they lose.

Good thing for you cause they lose alot. For me, I will ride the this train through its losses and feel the disappointments, for the win when it comes will be the best in the world. EL the Famous
So what are you going to do about it? Type 'As a whole, yes...but the last one was just in 2003. It was enough then, today not so much.' What else am i supposed to do?! Eh, it'll sting for a few days if they get shut down...but i'll live. At least we won our division and weren't 3 games out of last place/24 out of first.
MrRain422
My team was only 8 out of first and won 3 more games than the Cubs did. Still not the playoffs, no, but you know, I'm just sayin'...

MrRain422
Yeah. I just brought it up because I thought your White Sox dig was in response to my snarkiness. No biggy. I really don't have anything against the Cubs, but man, the Cubs fans in my office are hilarious when they lose, so I'm really enjoying this.

cryptique
The Cubs lost two on the road. Discouraging, but the series isn't over. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I still see this series going five games. Hill is a better pitcher than Hernandez, and I think the Cubs will take game 3. I'm not quite as optimistic about game 4, but if they win tomorrow who knows? A 2-0 deficit in a five-game series is scary, but not insurmountable. If they can get it to game 5, anything can happen.
