Scalzunfield
But who is going to sing Myriad Harbour? Â Exactly. I'll be upset if Dan isn't there for Friday's Chicago gig.
solace
Exactly. I'll be upset if Dan isn't there for Friday's Chicago gig.fwiw, Dan has only done one tour with the New Pornographers, which was last year. prior to that he never played with them outside of Pac NW shows and a few festivals. in fact i've seen them 3x since '01 and yet to see Dan w/ them (they cancelled the First Ave show he was to play at last year :/)
MattZ
Dan noNeko yes I dont remember where I heard it or read it, and far be it from me to doubt the accuracy of solace's information, but when I bought my tix to see them in NYC in a couple of weeks, I was very much under the impression that Dan would be there. That was why I bought the tix. solace, are you sure he won't be there? I can look around to see where I heard that he would be... I know it is incredibly rare for him to be playing with them, but that was why I bought the tix.
solace
oh shit...i was looking for reviews of the Canadian or Missoula shows just to confirm, and while 3 of the ones i found didn't mention a thing about Bejar, this post seems to indicate he was at the first Calgary show on the 12th and may be out on this tour actually! http://yourblues.proboards54.com/index.cgi...ge=1#1192305921 i'll let you guys know after tomorrow night  I dont remember where I heard it or read it, and far be it from me to doubt the accuracy of solace's information, but when I bought my tix to see them in NYC in a couple of weeks, I was very much under the impression that Dan would be there. Serak_the_Preparer
I also thought I read a review of a recent show where they said Dan was extremely drunk, butcame out and sang his tunes. I will try to find that review! Here's crossing my fingers. Edit: He was definately there for both Seattle shows - I read a review on NP forum page (http://www.thenewpornographers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=845). I realize this is a PAC NW show, but he was also there for th LA show. Here is the youtube of Dan playing . Looks promising!
Dreamin'
I also thought I read a review of a recent show where they said Dan was extremely drunk, butcame out and sang his tunes.Dan always seems to be extremely drunk when he plays with the NP. It's a little bit scary, actually.
solace
yeah... i know he was at the west coast shows in September, just thought i'd heard he wouldn't be doing the other dates on this new Oct tour, but hopefully that was wrong!
Mystik Spiral
I saw them in Boulder a few weeks ago and Dan & Neko were both there. Dan was really only onstage for his songs, usually with a beer in hand. They're coming back to Denver early November & I heard that they'll both be there, but that could be a rumor... uwmryan
I'm 95% sure both will be at the Milwaukee show at the Pabst.
street spirit
He played guitar on a song that he wasn't singing here (which I, of course, can't remember now)... for non-Destroyer obsessives I'm sure that doesn't sound impressive, but as people have alluded to, usually he only plays beer. Serak_the_Preparer
Went to the show last night - amazing. Dan and Neko were both there! They played 5 Dan songs! Highlights included Mass Romantic, Myriad Harbor, The Slow Descent Into Alcoholism, Electric Version, Jackie, Dressed in Cobras, The Body Says No, and Execution Day. The music was a little loud and I think I have permanant hearing damage to my right ear (constant ringing) - but hopefully that will pass by tomorrow (or at least I will get used to it!). Â Emma Pollack was really good too. Benjee was just way too loud to hear.
Clouds of Fluff
Out of curiousity, any Neko solo stuff during these shows? We're seriously thinking of trying to hit the Lawrence, KS gig. *decisions, decisions*
solace
definitely the best of the 3x i've seen them  only thing i would have enjoyed more from the setlist would have been From Blown Speakers, which i tried for during the request for requests  setlist went something like this: Mutiny, I Promise YouUse ItMyriad HarborAll The Old ShowstoppersMy Rights Versus YoursChallengersThe Spirit Of GivingAll The Things That Go To Make Heaven And EarthUnguidedJackie, Dressed In CobrasThese Are the FablesThe Laws Have ChangedTwin CinemaMass RomanticElectric VersionSing Me Spanish TechnoThe Bleeding Heart Show Encore: Execution DayThe Body Says NoThe Slow Descent Into Alcoholism

I definately would have liked to hear more songs with Neko on lead. Solace - I saw you outside the venue and then inside. I have actually seen you at most of the shows I have been to in the past year. I was going to introduce myself, but I feel stupid going up to someone I have never met and say I am so and so from the Wilco board. Maybe next time.

Serak_the_Preparer
shit, they did play that one  I thought I remembered them playing it too - but then again, I couldn't remember if they actually played it or if i was just imagining it. I have a real problem with memory...I rarely remember things for more than about 3 minutes. On the plus side, my right ear is about back to normal!
ianshaw
I'm seeing the NP's on Friday at the Metro in Chicago. I'd be terribly disappointed were Neko not to be there. Dan . . . I think I'd miss, but if it meant Neko could sing more with the NP's - enjoy your beer buddy. Â Ian
MattZ
To each his own, but I am going on Wed next week in NYC. If Dan is not there I am turning around and walking out. I am tired of buying tickets for the New Pornographers and getting there only to find out it is not the full lineup. Even if Neko is there -- no Dan means no me. Ok, maybe I won't leave. But I will be really bummed until about 30 seconds into the first tune.
