Tweedy's Gurl
oh gosh....TONS of bands....i've discovered a whole new scene in southern illinois that i didn't even know existed when i was still living in chicago. recently i've been way into secondary modern, himalayas, the black fortys and cleanray. of course, i still love my old chicago favorites....andrew bird, the waco brothers....and some band called wilco. cryptique
You forgot Limp Bizkit! I also think Petty was based in Gainsville right or maybe he is from Indiana? Petty is not from Indiana ... he's a Gainesville boy. Another good Florida band was For Squirrels. Also Crowsdell. Both sadly defunct. I think Less Than Jake is from Gainesville (but I don't think I've ever heard one of their songs). Don't forget the Miami Sound Machine! As for Michigan ... well, we have Ted Nugent () and Bob Seger (), but more importantly, we have the MC5 and Iggy Pop. Patti Smith now calls Michigan home. The White Stripes are from here. One obscure but fantastic (defunct) band was The Fletcher Pratt. We're also home to people like the Verve Pipe, Sponge, and the Von Bondies. Oh, and then there's Motown... I know I'm forgetting some big names.
