awatt
I have one ticket, with "obstructed view"--how bad can it be?
BigWheeledWagon
I have one ticket, with "obstructed view"--how bad can it be? Â Well, it's not so bad in that you will still be hearing Wilco play at a venue that is one of the most historic and beautiful in the U.S. and that seems to really bring out the best in the band. It is bad in the sense that there are no bad seats in the Ryman . . . except the obstructed view seats. I think that is why the Ryman goes out of its way to make sure people know what they are getting when they buy tickets for those seats. Still, I'd take an obstructed view seat at the Ryman over a normal seat at a lot of other places. If Sunday's show is anything like the show they played at the Ryman in '06, I'd wager that it will be one of the best you've ever attended regardless of the view. Doug C
Unfortunately, though many will likely find it fortunate, I was unable to find reasonable tickets on ebay, craigslist or broker sites. None of any price materialized here. Therefore we won't be able to meet ya'll and no birthday Wilco roadtrip for my wife to any venue. Enjoy the show. The last time I was at the Ryman, I was in elementary school and saw Roy Acuff with my folks. It is a special venue.

poppydawn
Who's up for dinner/drinks before the show? I'd love to meet everyone! We were thinking about Jack's, since it's so close to the Ryman. Say, 5ish to give us plenty of time to loiter and such?
BigWheeledWagon
I'm going there on Saturday! I've also promised the spouse-guy person that we'll find a few guitar shops and he can fondle the goods.  Take him to Gruhn Guitars (400 Broadway, not far from the Ryman) -- he will be forever grateful. bird jam
I have one ticket, with "obstructed view"--how bad can it be? Â Depends on what is obstructing your view. Some of the "obstructed view" seats are behind columns or poles you can probably lean to see around. But I had an obstructed view seat for the Grand Ole Opry last month that was in a location where due to the angle I could only see the very edge of the stage. Great view of the crowd, no view whatsoever of the performers.
macramaniac
I second Jacks. Also, The Beer Cellar a block a way is good.

The balcony seats (and front row especially) are the best seats in the house (though with only 2200 or so seats there aren't any bad ones, even the obstructed view seats are not horrible ). The place is so small that even though you are stage left you will easily be able to see the entire band...hell yer gonna be close enough to see the sweat dripping on their faces. jimjiminy
My wife and I will be there. This is her first show at the Ryman...she's gonna love it. We're on the floor, 2nd to last row in the back, but direct center. It's been a stressful week but it's spring break at Vandy. This show will be welcome respite from the rigors of grad school. You'd think there'd be more Wilco fans in humanities programs, but so far I've only found a few "appreciators"--pfff, whatever that means. I even try to seek out other fans by wearing that one cartoon Wiilco t-shirt, but honestly, I get more comments about the Trogdor tee. Had a dream last night about the show. It was outdoors and it started to rain so my wife and I sneaked into a canopy section. Good thing the Ryman has a roof!
