Boon (The Minutemen)Mick Jones (The Clash)J. MrRain422
Johnny Marr was good. Never a favorite, but I like what he did and think he was a good guitar player.

Lammycat
any guitarist that doesnt try to bring further attention to himself. The kid playing in the basement next door? I don't get your point, I guess. A lead guitarist should be heard and not seen? Play in the background not the forefront? Play quietly instead of loudly? Play simple chords in lieu of complex ones?
radiokills
its pretty straightforward really. guitarists like the focus of the music to be on them; its not an unheard of notion.
MrRain422
Yeah, the notion is straight forward, but the way you expressed it was not.

Lammycat
So you prefer the guitarist that is not noticeable or plays a minor role in the band. That's cool. You prefer the rhythm guitarist and/or no guitar.
lamradio
Coming from a lead guitarist, regardless if I try to bring further attention to myself, I will be the center of attention while I'm playing a lead.. That's the whole point of being a lead guitarist. I don't purposely try to be the center of attention, that's just my purpose in the band (while I'm playing a lead that is).
