MattZ
Is that Ervin Santana then? Haha, yeah. I had him for $10 before last season and had to decide whether to sign him to a long term contract. He had such a good year that I signed him to a 3 yr deal -- the way our league works is that the salary goes up $5 for each year in the long term contract. So, he shat the bed last year and now I have to keep him this year and next at 15 and 20, respectively. Dangit.
MrRain422
For a second I was thinking it was Johan, in which case you got him for too cheap before but would now be totally screwed. How does that work in an AL only league when someone moves to the NL anyway? Are you pretty much just screwed?

How does that work in an AL only league when someone moves to the NL anyway? Are you pretty much just screwed? Yes, you are screwed. The (sort of) cool thing about that issue is that you have to think about stuff and it impacts values in the auction. For example, if you know a guy is in a walk year, you have to be careful about buying him because you may lose him...

Lammycat
Thats a bargain.Seems a little high to me, but not too far north in today's market. After the 1 year of arbitration buy-out (a little over $11 M) it's basically 7 years/$19 M per year. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a bargain though. Although in comparison to Arod's contract maybe a case could be made that it is a bargain.

MrRain422
Seems a little high to me, but not too far north in today's market. Sure, but how will it look in the 2012 market? It may be way below market value by then.
