DAngerer09
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Coldplay's fourth album, "Viva la Vida," will arrive June 17 in North America and a day earlier internationally, according to the band's spokesperson. I'm really excited for this, mostly because Brian Eno produced it. I think since Parachutes, each of their following albums have dropped off some. Hopefully Eno will help them branch out and try new things. The last album was good for about one listen, don't think I've touched it since. Coldplay also says The sights, sounds and flavours of Latin America and Spain have definitely been infused into this album...No maracas or castanets, but a vibrancy and colourfulness that owes much to the atmospheres of Buenos Aires and Barcelona. The effect is subtle but important. Anyone else lookin forward to this?
Beltmann
Anyone else lookin forward to this?Yeah... although I have to concede I'm more curious than eager.
Atticus
gawd I hope they cover "living la vida loca"
DAngerer09
Their CD would be best used as a frisbee if that is the case.
theashtraysays
I hope it's good. "Parachutes" is good, and "Rush" is a great record. But that doesn't mean they have to keep making clones of the silly thing.
remphish1
Chris Martin is really not good at naming things.... I'm Curious...I hope it doesn't get killed on the radio. I was turned off to X & Y very quickly.
watch me fall
Maybe 4 years ago I would've been excited about this. Parachutes is one of my fave albums though.
bjorn_skurj
Will Eno make them sound even more like U2?
Calexico
Will Eno make them sound even more like U2? Oh Jesus, there's a way to fucking hex it.
Atticus
I doubt if I'll even need to buy this album. I'll hear the tunes through the wall when my wife watches grey's anatomy and I'm in the bedroom reading
Sir Stewart
I like my Chris Martin like I like my pancake stacks - short, quick and only on songs by the Streets & Kanye West.
chisoxjtrain
You know how i know you're gay...
Chendizzle
Apparently the full title is "Viva la Vida Or Death And All His Friends." Wow.
Good Old Neon
I doubt if I'll even need to buy this album. I'll hear the tunes through the wall when my wife watches grey's anatomy and I'm in the bedroom reading - it's funny cause it's true.

DAngerer09
Yeah, the only way for them to defend that song title is if the song is killer.
DAngerer09
"Violet Hill" is up on their site (and blogs) as a free download.
OOO
I'd say that the song is nothing special, but I liked the fact that they tried out some heavier guitar distortion than is typical of coldplay.
DAngerer09
yeah I agree with you. It's nothing great, but I like the fact that is doesn't sound like the stuff they've done in the past. The guitar breakdown was pretty cool though.
bigideas
i'm pleasantly surprised.i'm just glad they got away from either the Yellow formula - where they build on quarter notes (or is it eighth?)or the Clocks formula - which Speed of Sound was. i had trouble with the download, so here is a stream link; http://mog.com/Charley_Rogulewski/blog_post/159077
