cryptique
Since ELO broke up, Jeff Lynne is the touch of death to any album... at least artistically.QFT. If he produced it, I probably don't want to listen to it. I hate that trademark Lynne sound. Cloud Nine and Full Moon Fever are both great albums ... but in my opinion, they would have been far greater albums without Lynne's heavy hand.

And let's not forget his posthumous meddling with George Harrison's Brainwashed -- a thoroughly disgusting display of ego run amok. (From the reports I heard, George wanted the album to stand as it was -- little more than demos. He wanted the songs to stand on their own. But, according to Lynne: "The material was too good to let it be released like that; it deserved better production."Wanker.

NightOfJoy
The wrong blues-guitar god got on the helicopter that night in August of 1990. I said that here a few years ago and was almost lynched by an angry mob. Better watch your back brutha.
cryptique
I'm with you on the helicopter thing. One dude was goin' places, the other was already coasting on fumes at the time, and has only continued to do so since that night. If one of them had to go...

IRememberDBoon
You want musical blashphemy...I got your musical blasphemy. "The Grateful Dead are really boring and owe their success to Hippy wannabees. Psychedelic music isn't really enjoyable if you aren't taking psychedelics." The rest of the garbage you wrote is complete bullshit but this one is the tops. Youre a wannabe. Wannabe considered cool on the internet. Define psychedelic music for me. Its quite obvious from your persona youve never done any. It might do you some good.

caliber66
Didnt he do Traveling Wilburys??He was a member of, and produced the albums of, the Traveling Wilburys. I agree with cryptique that the albums were overproduced. I still think they're pretty great.

Sir Stewart
I recall after the premiere of "Free As A Bird" on the ABC Beatles Anthology broadcast, sitting back and thinking 'Fucking Jeff Lynne.'

Guest Speed Racer
all jambands are god awful. this includes my morning jacket. Every iteration of MMJ I've ever heard sounds like music-sized sleeping pills on tranquilizers. And, after listening to the back-catalogue in light of their recent lovers' spats, Aerosmith is actually pretty good, especially pre-1998. Obvious exceptions of course, but Rocks, Toys, Live! Bootleg, self-titled and Pump are pretty damned good.
Sir Stewart
what the F did I do?? You call people names and attack them, which is why I think he called for your being banned. Personally, I think of you as that dude who loves to party a lot and probably fell on his head as an infant before his skull had a chance to close up, and so I would not like to see you banned. PopTodd
The Willburys were great IN SPITE OF, not because of Jeff Lynne. It took the combined talents of Dylan, Petty, Harrison, and Orbison to make that album as good as it was. Think about it, once Roy died, that second record was a flippin' mess... they just couldn't do anything to override the Heavy-Handed Lynne Touch of Death.

Jeez, does anyone want my tickets for tonight's show? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbbSXkRhg8w&feature=player_embedded edit: to weigh in on the IRDB debate, an argument could be made that Crow started the personal attacks by saying that the only people that like the Dead are wannabe hippies. I love the Crow Daddy, but he could have said that the Dead suck.
