M. (hristine
Thank you Paul. Really fun, loose show. Honestly I have run out of superlatives for this band live. My best little concert buddy had a great night. During Greatest Lost Track Of All Time, a tiny bra was thrown on stage (Tweedy: "It's a 12 year old's. I could be arrested for touching this."), Tweedy tried to snag it w/ the head and tuning keys of his guitar to throw it back, managed to fling it off, then it was thrown back onstage. Finally he threw it at Sarah telling her, "I know this isn't yours, and I'm not throwing it at you. I just know you won't throw it back." Best part though...all night Sarah is singing and grinning back and forth with Glenn. At the end of the show the roadie came out and handed Glenn's (VERY) used sticks to her. She is a percussionist and Glenn is like a superhero to her. I thought she was going to bust. After the show we waited for Glenn so that he could sign her sticks. He talked to her about her playing. Nels came to talk to her as well, commenting how she knew every lyric. Very kind men, these guys. On the way home, she said her cheeks hurt from grinning. Thanks Wilcos. Music is magic. Was a beautiful afternoon and evening in Lawrence and a very comfortable venue. As always, so much fun to hang out with everyone.
polly
This was my first live Wilco experience (long time fan, just never made it to a live show) and I loved it! It felt like the guys played forever. I loved Jeff's interaction with the crowd, especially regarding the clothes thrown on stage and the 'non-paying' people on the nearby roofs. The only downer for me were the geniuses who brought their 5 year old kids to the show and had them up on their shoulders several songs of the main set and the first 3-4 songs of the encore. It's very cool that you are exposing your kids to good music at an early age, but don't stand in the 3rd row back of a GM concert and block the view of everyone else behind you. I also found it ridiculous security/event staff didn't ask them to take them off their shoulders, there was a group of about 30 of us right behind them that couldn't see squat for a large majority of the show. /end rant. Overall it was still an awesome experience and I can't wait to see them live again!
fatheadfred
I love Wilco,,,, I hate Kansas....blaaahhhhhhhhhhh iccccccccccckyeah, StL here we come Oh, yeah, 'cool guy w/ 1 earring'...you CAN dance if you want to, you can leave your world behind... Got to meet the dudes again. Awesome. Misunderstood and Theologians were spectacular.
Motty05
I had a person that was 6' 6" in front of me and you know what I did? I moved over one foot to my right and could see. I didn't see the 5 yeard old that was blocking 30 folks view of the stage, must of been one big kid!
Clouds of Fluff
Not much to add, other than I thought it was another great show...loved the energy the guys had last night! I was sad to see it end so soon, the curfew was right at 10:30 (this venue shared the alley with a residential area...people were watching the show from their roof!)...but teh Wilcos really gave us every penny's worth, giving it all right until the last minute. And kudos to the promoters/Lawrence, KS (and of course Wilco) for pulling it off...I'd love to see another show like this there. Couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather this time of year in Kansas (as Jeff pointed out). Couldn't have asked for better concert companions either. From Lawrence Journal World: Guess who?! CLICKY! Also, I spotted the bbop (and his friend)!
John Tesh
Had an awesome time last night. The band was on top of it's game and the venue was spectacular. The weather was perfect, sound was good, people were great. Took my 12 yo daughter for her first Wilco show, and she loved it. Highlights for me were Hoodoo Voodoo and Say you miss me. Of course another one of many great days in Lawrence.

piano filled with souls
Last night was pretty much perfect on every level. Great weather, nice venue, a good crowd, and the band was in top form (as they pretty much always seem to be). This was my twelfth Wilco show going back to first seeing them in early '97, and it was definitely one of my favorites. I've always enjoyed Wilco no matter what the venue, but this show and last years at the Crossroads in KC have convinced me that there is no better place to catch them then outdoors in the open air. I'd try to pick out a high point or two of the show, but the thing that I love about Wilco shows is that the whole setlist is a high point. It's always two plus hours of nothing but songs I love. But I will say it was nice to have them do Say You Miss Me, Theologians, and Hoodoo Voodoo, since I haven't seen them done live in a while. The bands' energy and mood were great. Glenn looked like he was having an especially good time (although I guess it would be weird to see him ever not look that way). John and Pat were their enthusiastically amiable selves. Mikael as usual was the mystery man off to the back. And I think I've finally seen enough Wilco shows with Niles that I'm no longer spending half the show dumbfounded at what an amazing musician he is, I'm starting to learn to just accept it. Jeff was in top form; the mock castigating of the non-payers watching, the ongoing bits with various articles of clothing being tossed on stage, addressing the line "I know you're just a mama's boy" from Misunderstood to one of the aforemention kids on their parent's shoulders. All fun stuff. Yeah, it was a pretty wonderful night. Thank you Lawrence and thank you Wilco

poppydawn
I'm glad Sarah had an awesome time! The rest of the show could have blown goats, but as long as Sarah had a good time, I'm happy. Wish I could have been there! Those outdoor college town shows are the best.
atomicblooz
I just wanted to say, what a great show, the band was in top form, as always, and in great moods too. The weather was really great, unbelievable for the spring we've been having, and it just seemed like we were seeing the worlds coolest band in a friend's back yard. (Big back yard mind you, but still had that feeling). Great music, great friends, great show. Good to see everyone, and meet new friends.

Moe_Syzlak
jeff's hair was out there last night!Did he talk about his hair? He said something in Colorado Springs about it and I feel like Jeff recycles the same stage banter from show to show.
Clouds of Fluff
No he didn't talk about it. But he used his hands to comb it out into a mad scientist looking do during one of the songs.
