sweetheart-mine
I'm not saying he's perfect, just that he's not pitching terribly. He had an awful game immediately after he came off the DL, but aside from that game, he's done pretty well. His WHIP is far too high, for sure, though.yah, i hear you. i still say he has gotten the win several times when i didn't think he pitched that well; and beckett has lost some that he probably deserved to win. MrRain422
Daisuke's WHIP this year, though a bit high, is actually really close to last year's, while his ERA is substantially better this year (more than a full run). His K/BB isn't great this year, which means he may be getting a bit lucky, but if I were a Red Sox fan I'd be happy with him.
bjorn_skurj
DiceK makes a lot of sox fans a little nervous. He's kind of like a Japanese Mike Timlin. Poor Mike Lowell not making the All Star game. I looked at the swag today online and thought about getting a player tee shirt, but honestly do not think I can wear a t shirt that features Yankee Stadium in any way. I love my stuff from the All Star game last year, with the ball plunking into the bay. Yankee Stadium--not so much. I appreciate, I suppose that this is the last year and all but I just don't think i can do it. Not even for Love Of The Game.I kind of agree with you. I don't really like this All-Star BP unis based on the host team's colors thing.I do like the Mets winning today. Take that, Philadelphia!

bobbob1313
The fans probably got 6/8 of the starting spots on the NL roster right. That's gotta be a record. But neither Cub outfielder belongs there. The "final vote candidates" are as follows: ALJermaine Dye, CWSJason Giambi, NYYJose Guillen, KCEvan Longoria, TBBrian Roberts, Bal NLPat Burrell, PhiCorey Hart, MilCarlos Lee, HouAaron Rowand, SFDavid Wright, NYM Vote at MLB.com I'm going with Dye and Burrell. cryptique
Dye is the obvious choice, in my opinion. He should have been on the team anyway without having to go through this BS.
cryptique
So, Sabathia and Prince Fielder on the same team, eh? All across Milwaukee the proprietors of all-you-can-eat buffets are quivering with fear. (I get to crack that joke because I'm bigger than either of them.) I don't think Sabathia gets the Brewers over the top, but I can certainly understand them wanting the guy. I wonder if they gave up too much to get him, though.
MrRain422
I say that it's worth it for the Brewers if they can win it all this year or if they can re-sign him to a long term deal. I'm assuming they're willing to put up the money to re-sign him because I doubt they really think that he's the only thing they needed to put them over the top this season. If they do re-sign him, then they'll have to be a favorite over the next few years with their young talent developing rapidly. Yeah, it's always a risk to give up your top prospect, but Sabathia is just about to be 28 -- 5 years of one of the best pitchers in the game in his prime is probably worth it, especially with the young talent that they have that will be coming into their primes within 2-3 years. Sabathia is a known commodity, and a prospect is never a sure thing. I like that team.
sweetheart-mine
God will get bored with them soon enough. who would've thought a simple name change could do it? i'm glad for kazmir, though; always thought he belonged on a contending team. and it's too bad huff isn't there for this. Smokestack Joe
I dont think the Brewers will resign Sabathia or Sheets next year so yes you are renting him for 3 months and yes we gave up some prospects but only a Brewer fan would understand, we havent went for IT since 1982. we acquired Don Sutton late in the season and he put us over the top. that is the last time Milwaukee went for it. It was a big move for the team. And as the rules go, if we lose Sabathia and Sheets to free agency, the Brewers will obtain compensatory picks which means we will get 5 of the first 35 picks in the draft. it all makes sense. This is a good point. If they lose Sabathia, they basically get to replace the prospect with a high draft pick. Of course it's not a given that the prospect they get will be as good as they one they gave up, but I'm assuming that they think they can get someone as good.

They seem to be putting all their eggs in this year's basket. But, as a Cubs fan, the Brew Crew scare me. The Cubs just haven't had much success against them. The NL Central is one helluva a division this year. I'll be at Wrigley on Saturday! Woohoo!

Duck-Billed Catechist
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-08...4.column?page=1 Article about Ozzie's publicly-available email address. The columnist's experiment was pretty lame, but it was interesting to see that email feedback helped Ozzie go with the current lineup of Pierzynski 2nd and Quentin 3rd. bjorn_skurj
I am not making that up. And in all fairness to Al, here is his statement from a 2004 NYT story: On the theory that Leiter's disappointment with Kazmir's maturity influenced the Mets to unload their top pitching prospect, he said: "He put Eminem on in the clubhouse and I said, 'Hey, what are you doing?' And that's the reason we traded him? That is sad. I didn't even know the kid."
