Guest Cousin Tupelo
Hey, Wilco's August tour dates are fast approaching, and I'm looking forward to hopefully catching them twice down here in the Southeast. I have eyed the "NOW TAKING REQUESTS FOR UPCOMING DATES" link on the main wilcoworld.net page and have wondered how compliant the band is in honoring requests. I actually sent one in (won't say what song, don't wanna jinx it ) and the form asks questions about why requesting the song, etc.etc. My questions are, what have been your experiences with requesting a song and having them play it at the show in question (on face value you have a roughly 1 in 6 shot of them playing a song based on number of songs in catalog times number of songs in a show). Moreso, I'd be curious of hearing any stories of whether the experience of them playing a requested song was made special in some way -- or if Tweedy acknowledged the song was requested. Thanks in advance for any input. -- and I realize this subject has been broached before, so I appreciate your patience and indulgence
markosis
They didn't play or acknowledge my request for Philly last February. They must die.
mountain bed
I haven't made a request yet, but I plan on doing so for the show I'll be seeing in August and I hope like hell that it happens.
lamradio
Well, the Charleston show has had plenty of time to get requests since it's been scheduled since December, so the setlist should be grand. It'll make my night if they play my request "Far Far Away". Still wondering what they are going to do to 'make it up to us' for the re-schedule.
froggie
for the melbourne show this year, i requested When you wake up feeling old - 7 times through different computers under different names. no luck someone yelled out for Kamera and jeff said only one person requested it. again, it didnt get played at least i got acuff-rose last year

mollyegan
This is as good a time as any...I had also searched the forums to see if there is any limit on requests? I am not trying to inundate the band or anything, but really wanted to request a song that wasn't on the list and submitted my request before I was able to get greedy and ask for a certain crowd participation song in addition. I don't want to jinx it either but I have missed The Thanks I Get at the last few shows and really want a sing-a-long! Does anybody know if they limit requests? WilcoOfTheDay
My boyfriend requested She's A Jar and it got played and I requested Passenger Side and it got played and Jeff even said "A song about drunk driving - by request". I felt special!
Rusty Shackleford
I requested 2 songs for the 9:30 in February. One got played ("Monday"). Somehow I get the feeling that they would have played it anyway, because a horn section is a terrible thing to waste.
Moe_Syzlak
I requested my favorite Wilco song at Colorado Springs, Poor Places, but alas, have still never seen that one performed live.
Killer Whales
My request of Remember the Mountain Bed got played in New Haven last February. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a ticket
So Long
I'm still hoping to hear Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(Again) live before I die
alecrothman
I think I requested Magazine Called Sunset for one of the 930 Club shows back in February. They played it, with Jeff making a comment after the song that that's always one of the most requested songs even though he doesn't understand why. Needless to say, it was awesome. Maybe that's why it gets requested...
SarahC
I requested "Wishful Thinking" in person to Jeff before the Nashville show, and it didn't get played, but he said they were gonna play "Pieholden Suite" which was my request through the website a week or so before. and the lucky people who saw the show in AL the day after the Nashville show got to hear "Wishful Thinking" (lucky ducks) So, they do honor website requests. I'm still hoping to hear Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(Again) live before I dieWhen they played that one in Nashville I nearly fell over when it started, looked at my friend and said "Holy CRAP!!" and she looked like: One day you will hear it! isadorah
i requested "on and on and on" for the millenium park show (in honor of my mom who made it possible for me to be at the show) and they played it. so i'd like to believe i had something to do with it. i've been requesting radio cure ever since, but with no luck for full band shows. here's holding out for the Cary, NC show, maybe wishes will come true. jimtweedy1977
I think they should add "Simple Twist of Fate" to the request form, imo
darkstar
I requested "Wishful Thinking" in person to Jeff before the Nashville show, and it didn't get played, but he said they were gonna play "Pieholden Suite" which was my request through the website a week or so before. and the lucky people who saw the show in AL the day after the Nashville show got to hear "Wishful Thinking" (lucky ducks) So, they do honor website requests. mountain bed
Fatal Wound? That would be my LRS request man. What are you, psychic?
Three dollars and 63 cents
They played all three of my requests in St. Louis on the nights I requested them. I was convinced I must've written some really memorable notes to the band or something, but Nels told me they don't usually read the messages because they don't have time to. Jeff usually does the set lists himself, and he tries to pick some songs with a lot of requests and a few that only a few people requested. So really it's much less magical and special than I'd hoped it would be.
IRememberDBoon
I didnt see Long Time Ago or Comment on the list. I want to hear those two
KansasAl
I requested my favorite Wilco song at Colorado Springs, Poor Places, but alas, have still never seen that one performed live. I have a story for you about your show. In New Mexico the following night, Jeff asks the audience how many of you were in CO Springs last night?" Spattering of hoots and hollers. Jeff then says I have a confession to make "we played Albuquerque's requsts last night by mistake in CO Springs." They played my request CA Stars and I was really nervous they wouldn't since they had the night before. Anyway to the thread starter yes they obviously take the requests seriously and to Moe-they may have meant to play your song they just screwed up so don't feel bad
DocShock
I requested James Alley Blues in Lawrence and St. Louis. Never played it......Damn
