Analogman
If you do a search on ebay using the search term - signed by Wilco - you will probably find many pages of such things. I figure most of those are the results of the work of blue-penners. Those are people who make a living selling items signed by bands. Personally, I think it is a shady business. I don't think the people who run this board want it to become a place where people can sell signed items from the band. If you are going to do such things - why even bother coming here - just do whatever it is you are going to do.
Guest Cousin Tupelo
Honestly, if Glenn is so concerned about what happens to the sticks he signs, he should hand them out himself instead of giving them to the roadies to distribute.Anyone see the commercial or trailer for the new movie "The Rocker" with Rainn Wilson? ction
That was my 13,129th post, and I'm not in a band, unless you count ction's band, and why would you do that? Go to hell, bro.
twuepoet
My fellow Wilco fans: I did not mean for this thread to produce such hatred and animosity. I apologize for this (that first post, I mean) being my first post. I figured that it would probably produce some ill-feelings. I am not plugging (although you may believe that if you like). At least, I don't think I am because I haven't decided to sell it yet. I'm a "poor college kid," and my emotional attachment to various musical paraphernalia is and will be secondary to my total college debt. This may be hard to understand for die-hard fans, but hey, it's about the music anyway, right fellas? (haha... ha...) I only became interested in the sale of this AMAZING WILCO ITEM (yes, I believe it to be amazing - maybe amazing enough to NOT sell it) because it's the summer months, and I've been a bit bored lately. Yes, if you'll notice, I did not post this a mere day after the MARCH 8th SHOW. I'm JUST WONDERING. I hope that this thread in no way detracts from my perceived appreciation of the genius that is WILCO. [Although I don't really care if it does...] Anyway, FLAME ON if you'd like. Oh, and here's some pics: As far as I know, he used it the whole show. I really don't know though. It could be the backup - the tip is a bit shattered (not sure if you can tell by the pic) so I assume it was the one he used for the show. Also, here's my story. After the show was over, I was so jaded that I just wanted to hang around while they cleaned up. My friend and I just kind of watched the crew do their thing, and one of them came out with the drumstick. I started jumping up and down yelling, more so than anyone around me (lame, right?). I didn't even know what he had, really (IT ALL HAPPENED SO FAST). Naturally, the "crew member" threw me the drumstick and I grabbed it with both hands and proceeded to feel warm and tingly inside. uncle wilco
i caught simon kirke's drumstick during a bad company concert years ago. i gave it to my brother free of charge so he could feel "warm and tingly inside."
SarahC
somebody on the new Old 97's message board, i think he may even post here, gave away one of Phillip's drumsticks to a person who wrote a note about what the 97's mean to them. i thought that was really sweet and generous. it was nice to see somebody giving something away that could mean so much to another fan. maybe that's what you should do, man. that being said, i am a poor college student too, and i don't go around selling my wilco stuff. that's why there are jobs, you know...go work at a starbucks or a target.... they are always looking for college age employees. i have a jeff tweedy signature guitar pick, and would never sell it, EVER. a.) because it was given to me for free from the band and b.) because profiting from that is kinda not cool. if you REALLY don't want something like that, i am sure there is some kid out there who would give it a good home. Halsey12
Selling a drumstick probably isn't going to make a very big dent in college debt. It might buy you some food for a week.

I'll give you that. Are you saying keep it? I'm still not really sure what it's worth. Somebody said it's not worth much and a couple said it's worth over a grand. Maybe I'll frame it down at school. It really is pretty cool. Like I said, don't want to step on any toes here - just wondering.

caliber66
I disagree. "...to make or become dull or weary..." I think he was spot on. "Jaded" carries a connotation of "world weary" not simply wiped out from being at a rock show.
tugmoose
I could not begin to imagine someone wanting to buy this. Would you really want to show it off to your friends and say, "I paid money for this drumstick that was signed by GLENN KOTCHE!" (Blank expression from friend) "THE GLENN KOTCHE!" GtrPlyr
Somebody said it's not worth much and a couple said it's worth over a grand.Over a grand? You obviously had some delusions that you were sitting on a real find, and that one of us Wilco fans would jump all over this with 4 figure offers. Reality check: Anyone here could probably get Glenn to sign a drumstick for them after a show if they really wanted it badly enough. The stick is a great memento for a fan but on a monetary level it can't be worth all that much. If it was from say Keith Moon it might be a different story.
LouieB
I don't think you used "jaded" properly.Me either.... If this guy is willing to sell a momento that is really only worth something to the person who received it in the first place (do people really pay big money for stuff that is signed by people who are alive and can still sign stuff...I guess I just don't understand that...) he must be plenty jaded in the true sense of the word. Rather than sell what will fetch at most a couple hundred dollars (is Glenn THAT famous??) perhaps he should just go get a job. LouieB
insideoutoflove
i got one of glenn's sticks at the residency shows in february and i couldnt get over how incredibly generous it was--he plays a full show, is exhausted, and then he goes backstage and takes the time to sign and date his sticks and get them to some fans. how awesome is that? i hadnt heard of him doing that before so when the roadie came out brandishing it to the crowd i was just blown away. i wouldnt sell mine for a million bucks

LouieB
Just put it on eBay and don't tell us about it if you don't want us to comment. This is a drumstick already. If you are going to be that interested in the value of the thing, find out if anyone wants it, but here you will only get dumped on. Really this is kinda stupid and the thread should be closed.
