fatheadfred
Wilco fans hate the Fox News Channel. Check... got it. I watch it to understand the backwards 'talking points'. It's a real bonus if I see She-man Coulter.
viatroy
Remember these four days are completely choreographed, just as the show next week will be. It's a great unifier but don't get too high and too low. The next 9 1/2 weeks ( ) are going to be a roller coaster. of course, and the unification celebration is the point. But as someone who was ready to write off the Dems because of their failures to respond to the Bush/Cheney disaster, I am inspired by the quality and character of the candidates and platform. I really enjoyed watching the delegates -- talk about your melting pot. I'm expecting the Republican convention to be an army of pasty white men and blond women in business suits. Except for Ohio's former Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell.

fatheadfred
I don't understand the Democrats' obsession with equating McCain to Bush - didn't Bush win two terms, the second when his approval rating was in the toilet, too? They intend to use him of an example of what a president should not do. Yeah, I agree, I was completely surprise he got a second go around. Part of that was the Dems political ineptness, maybe some voter fraud, and a large portion of the country still punches their chats based on talking points regarding religious issues. Obama's campaign seems to be doing a decent job of targeting the religious crowd, however, the concept of racism is a new one and it will require a second non-Anglo campaign to actually discuss that. The tie may work this time due to the economy. It appears the economy ($) may trump Jesus and abortion talking points. Bush's reelection campaign did not have to face the fire on the economy. McBush is.
Tweedling
I don't think the "football stadium with a mock greek temple" is such a great move. That's ok though because I have a feeling the pasty white guys will just steal votes and hijack the whole damn election.
Central Scrutinizer
Why is Obama doing his speech in a football stadium?Because it was too late to put a deposit on the Mount.

The RNC will have the same homogeny.
ShuckOwens
I hope they've got their ducks lined up when it comes to fighting back against vote theft.Again, like much of what flies around these political threads, I find myself wondering if there is actual proof of this. Forgive me for asking... I know it's silly. Set me straight please.

Well, the republicans aren't the party of Abraham Lincoln in anything more than name. Let's be real.

Hey, I've moved on to thinking about the present and the future, especially in terms of the economy and our foreign presence. Get your google on or hope someone here bookmarked some shit for you. JUDE
So how many of you are coming to St. Paul next week to protest the RNC? We could do a meet and greet. I
ShuckOwens
Will we be gathering to protest the mere existence of the Republican party, or to try & levitate the building? Both?

Synthesizer Patel
they showed the some of the clinton speech on the british news earlier today, and i'm sure i heard him finish it with saying something about Obama leading America, and America leading the World. or did i make that up? apart from the fact that the man is a grade A plonker, and i find/found most of what he says offensive to my tastes, if i did hear it correctly, i find this slightly more offensive than his usual balls. it just kind of showed me that, republican or democrat, there's still a long way to go before the political class in america wake up the modern world and how it wishes to be run. I did like this line from Clinton: (EDIT: preceding line) "Most important, Barack Obama knows that America cannot be strong abroad unless we are strong at home. "People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power."
ikol
"I'm stunned to see Karl Rove on a news network as an analyst," said Stewart, adding only "Fox News Sunday" moderator Chris Wallace "saves that network from slapping on a bumper sticker...Barack Obama could cure cancer and they'd figure out a way to frame it as an economic disaster."..." I'm sure he's equally stunned that ABC uses George Stephanopoulos as a political analyst.
