myboyblue
I believe that I just came to the realization that I prefer Joe Strummer's post Clash work. I sure find myself listening to it a hell of alot more. There haven't been too many artists that go out on top. My feeling is that this guy's best work may have been in front of him despite his ridiculous catalog. Did this need to be a thread? Probably not but this hit me this evening and I figured I'd shout it from the vc rooftop.

LouieB
Strummer took a long time getting back to it after the Clash broke up. While is later records are good, somehow they don't have the attraction the Clash does for me. LouieB
Guest Hollinger.
I find myself listening to the Mescaleros stuff way more than I do the Clash.

poppydawn
I really love that last Mescaleros album. "Long Shadow" is one of my favorites.

I'd say just give "The Future Is Unwritten"DVD a close watch and from there work your way upwards from "Sandinita"
JerseyMike
I, too, have been dipping into the Mescaleros more then the Clash lately.
lost highway
Mescaleros are cool. I will say that Streetcore is the best thing Joe Strummer did after Combat Rock which is pretty awesome if you think about dying on a high note. But Strummer solo better than the Clash? That's kind of crazy, I think.
jenbobblehead
I love Joe Strummer. That little film he did about trying to promote his solo work was so freaking sad. I definitely listen to more Strummer than Clash now. I think Joe Strummer's passing was the one time I truly felt the death of someone I didn't even know.
TheMaker
I've never listened to the Mescaleros more than The Clash, especially immediately following Joe's death, but they were a damned underrated combo. He was doing incredible stuff towards the end of his life, certainly.
mjpuczko
i love strummer, streetcore is one of my fave albums ever. saying that, i definitely listen to more clash than strummer though.
lamradio
But Strummer solo better than the Clash? That's kind of crazy, I think. Crazy indeed. I mean.. It's The Clash...
awatt
Global-A-Go-Go gets a lot of play in my home. Ditto. But so does the Clash generally. It's all good for the soul....
MrRain422
I love the Mescaleros. All 3 albums are excellent, though they got better as they went along. Streetcore is pretty much perfect.
Gobias Industries
Shit, I just found this and I'm listening to Global A Go Go right now. Cryptic. Strummer led me to the light. Simple enough. Love the man to death.
MrRain422
So that was your fault?
EL the Famous
But Strummer solo better than the Clash? That's kind of crazy, I think. not entirely, i think a lot of his solo work is at least on par w/ a lot of my favorite clash stuff.
bobbob1313
Minus London Calling, his last album matches up with alot of the Clash stuff.

lamradio
i would not disagree with this at all. I would have to disagree. Although Joe's solo work is great, it is missing three key elements: Topper Headon, Paul Simonon, and Mick Jones.
