so this means bush is going to declare a dictatorship prior to the election?

No, only if Obama wins. According to documents I found in the street the other day, if Obama wins, al-Qaida will launch a massive series of attacks and Bush, with half the country a smoking, radioactive ruin, will declare that the nation cannot change leadership now and the Constitution is suspended. All so they can keep their tax cuts in place and make sure the gays don't get married. Hey, what's that black van doing outside the office?

But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.

None of us really has a choice but to 'take our chances', and I get little satisfaction from paying attention to this stuff. You don't need to share my peculiar interest in unprecedented actions of the our current federal government.

Bush is no genius, and likely not evil; he's a puppet.

Why would Bush want to keep a country that's half blowed up?

SO THE GAYS DON'T MARRY EACH OTHER!

Dear god, I can't wait for the election.

George Bush is an idiot, and if I believed he was the one making any kind of major decision on his own I wouldn't be the least bit worried. It's the people pulling his strings that concern me. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but after witnessing the degradation of this country in the last 8 years and the amount of times the law has been sidestepped to meet the needs of our leaders, I really can't rule much of anything out at this point.

If, and that's a big If, they had some kind of ulterior motive to try and hang on to the presidency, I really hope the soldiers they think are going to willingly participate would see things clearly and refuse.

Awesome blast from my saturday morning past! I love that show!

Yeah, for a little kid with an intractable dinosaur fetish, it was pretty much the closest thing to fetish-porn available while still having nothing to do with sex

George Bush does not want to be in office any longer than he has to. Have you guys been paying attention over the last 8 months? He's like a senior in high school, just counting the days til he's done. You don't fail senior english so you can hang out with your junior friends during lunch next year. You get the fuck out so you can spend your summer smoking pot and drinking.

Duh, unlike the rest of you traitorous liberals, he's an optimist.

Yes he is not a "the country is not half blown up" Kind of guy. He views it as the country is half rebuilt.

He was on fucking Deal Or No Deal. He has no intentions of being a dictator.

He has never expressed desire to be a dictator, and I'm suure his followers would not support him if he tried, then again...

"You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier." Describing what it's like to be governor of Texas.(Governing Magazine 7/98)

-- From Paul Begala's "Is Our Children Learning?"

"I told all four that there are going to be some times where we don't agree with each other, but that's OK. If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator," Bush joked.

-- CNN.com, December 18, 2000

"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it, " [bush] said.

-- Business Week, July 30, 2001

A writer for a national security group set up by a conservative think tank has called on President Bush to declare himself "President for Life" and remove all Arabs from the Middle East so he can "repopulate the country with Americans."

Philip Atkinson, author of the book A Study of Our Decline, argues that Bush should have followed the model of Julius Caesar in Iraq, slaughtering all Iraqis who did not comply with his demands. "He could then follow Caesar's example and use his newfound popularity with the military to wield military power to become the first permanent president of America, and end the civil chaos caused by the continually squabbling Congress and the out-of-control Supreme Court."

If the military was behind him, Bush (or any president) could become dictator, if they wanted to. I have kind of a hard time thinking that will happen, but deep down in side I believe in Jesus, Old Glory and the fundamental goodness of the American people.
