brandonwilco
So I'm in line for Beck last night and out of nowhere Wilco sans Jeff and Nels walk right by us, most with a lady in hand. I gave them the what's up nod and that was that. But it seemed as if they were just getting in line like the rest of us. Crazy stuff. Then we're leaving the show and they looked to be waiting for the bus outside the green mill. Nobody really seemed to realize it was them at all. Beck as amazing by the way. Sir Stewart
Nice! Anyone know the degrees of separation between Beck (and his musicians) & Wilco? I don't - I imagine it's Nels-based though. And probably Joey Waronker.
Tweedling
That's kick ass! Do the guys really have to wait outside the bus though?! You'd think they would be backstage drinking diet cokes with him. AND, you're much more smooth than I ever was. I ran into the group once in Austin without Jeff and I kinda spazed a little. Started pointing at them and giving the "hell yes". I thought it was very rock and roll at the time. They just all looked at me like I was a fucking idiot. AND I'm jealous because I've never seen Beck.

And probably Joey Waronker. Beck appears on a hidden track on The Geraldine Fibbers' self-titled debut EP, however it was released before Nels joined the band.
Three dollars and 63 cents
You beat me to it, Hixter. The connection seems to be Beck-->Carla B. -->Nels-->Wilco
Preferred B
Back in 2003 or so, when Beck played in Chicago, Jeff sat in for a song.
Dr. Steve Brule
Doesn't Beck have a crew member or something named Jeff Tweedy?
Preferred B
Yeah, wasn't that his guitar tech or something? I wonder if he's still with him.
barnyard pimp
saw beck in august and it was just as boring as i'd expected. while he was once relevant, i knew he'd taken a turn for the worse (and http://www.lermanet.com/beck/ explains exactly why), but i never expected to see him just standing onstage, looking bored (or confused?), mindlessly droning thru half-assed (and sometimes half-performed) versions of his singles, while his (subpar) band did the bulk of his work for him. but that's neat that wilco were there. at least some talent was under that roof last night. TemplePilot
Oh well if that article says Beck isn't "relevant" (as if its some sort of benchmark for being talented) I guess I don't like him anymore.

yermom
and http://www.lermanet.com/beck/ explains exactly why A weblog maintained by Bibbe's friend, Vaginal Davis, mentioned that Also, I didn't know that PT Anderson and Miranda July were scientologists. Edit: Oh wait, nevermind. Vaginal Davis is a drag queen. I thought someone had actually named their kid that.
Sir Stewart
Also, I didn't know that PT Anderson and Miranda July were scientologists. It really doesn't matter.

LouieB
They might have... Last night 2/3 of Wilco was at the Hungry Brain. It is not unusual to see Wilco members at clubs in Chicago (or on the street or other places.) Most of them live here and enjoy seeing their musical colleagues perform. I won't say it still isn't sort of a thrill to run into them and talk to them when possible, but really it isn't such a big deal that they are out in public.
