lost highway
The new RS has Obama on the cover. They devoted a paragraph towards the beginning to Wilco recording a new record. There's a great quote from Nels Cline about their wealth of material. If there's any subscribers I'd love you to share it, I don't want to misquote.

Guest Hollinger.
Wilco have already recorded demos for a new album and are heading into their Chicago studio, the Loft, this month to start recording and fleshign them out. "Sonically it's going to be a much wilder, much moroe unexpected record," says guitarist Nels Cline. "There's going to be too much to choose from. Right now it's an embarassment of riches, for sure." you ever seen a ghost?
! 10 bucks says we won't get it next Spring like we are supposed to, but that would be fantastic! -justin
bigshoulders
10 bucks says we won't get it next Spring like we are supposed to, but that would be fantastic! WTF does that mean: "Like we are supposed to"? They aren't on a production line, you know. Just sayin' is all.
you ever seen a ghost?
i meant to say "like they are supposed to." i'm only going by statements that said it would come out in the Spring. personally, i want the band to take as long as they feel they need to. -justin
Dude
"Sonically it's going to be a much wilder, much more unexpected record," says guitarist Nels Cline. "There's going to be too much to choose from. Right now it's an embarassment of riches, for sure." This is great news for me. My biggest qualm with Sky Blue Sky is that it traveled on musical roads that were already pretty worn down. Some musical surprises / detours this time around would generate a lot of excitement and energize the Wilco base.

radiokills
"one wing" did not sound significantly wilder than anything off SBS. if "one wing" is an indication of the new album's sound.
orchestra
"one wing" did not sound significantly wilder than anything off SBS. if "one wing" is an indication of the new album's sound. It could have been written during SBS. Or it could be changed radically during recording.
radiokills
fingers crossed
lost highway
I reiterate: we know nothing. The band still might not know what it's going to sound like in the end. I just hope they're working with TJ Doherty again.

lost highway
Probably doubtful again. Last I heard Jim was still busy w/ film stuff in Japan and oh so slowly finishing off some new solo ideas. I suppose that doesn't take it completely out of the realm of possibility. I bet we'll all know a lot more about all of this in like two months.
orchestra
Yes, please! Oh yes! Please. Please please please.
giraffo
hmm, something tells me a guy like Nels Cline saying a record being wilder, and "much more unexpected" tells me that complaining about One Wing might seem a little misguided.
radiokills
right, but remember theres been word of new material for some time now, and wilco began to play "one wing" in the midst of it.
orchestra
I guess I was alone in thinking One Wing was stronger than most of SBS? Even if it is in the same vein.

lost highway
you might be looking for this thread http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?sho...=37447&st=0 Excuse me. I can only be lead to believe that we will all have acquired much more knowledge on this topic in approximately two months time. I donno. After going back and listening to One Wing I'm more psyched. Watching the Lollapalooza footage of it helps show it's potential a lot more than listening to some of the other bootlegs. Pretty sweet. But again, we're putting a lot of pressure on one song. cooperissup3r
I guess I was alone in thinking One Wing was stronger than most of SBS? Even if it is in the same vein. not alone. i think SBS is a great record...nothing too heavy, but it's a really feel good record for the most part. One Wing is fantastic, I think. i don't get how people bag on anything Tweedy does. When you look at the dearth of shit out there, and to see that Tweedy really doesn't write a bad song, it's pretty amazing.
