Moss
I like this quite a bit. First crack at some lyrics, not 100% correct I know: Dark Neon Sitting safely across the road from the rust and scaffolding picking our nose when a bird spoke up from high on the dark neon he said there are some things that you should come clean on Oh I didn't know Oh, where to begin Oh, don't I know Oh, except the emotion I was beating up babies babies I mean that don't look like babies but they're babies to me I was looking around for my very own best friend couldn't help feeling things had come to an end I always let you go then you let me back in as is the status quo oh nobody wins I was feeling sorry so sorry for myself was trying to take it easy but that wasn't helping a bird spoke up this time I think it was a dove he said there are some things that you should come clean on Well that's so it's so you look through my skin Oh, how do they know oh, what was it in Keep fooling myself I might need your help I can't just keep fooling myself Oh let you go Oh you led me back in it's the status quo nobody wins
cryptique
I got you and that's all I needI got you and that's all I need I got you and that's all I need I got you [...] It's only rock and roll, but I like it.At least that song had some melody to it. I'm tired of one-note verses. That's also part of the reason I'm not as in love with "Bull Black Nova" as most people seem to be.
dunnright00
If Wilco's management follows this place, something like this might happen to me: Sonny's Death. --Mike "Uncalled 4" Lolz!!

I was beating up babies babies I mean that don't look like babies but they're babies to me People that is fucking kickass writing. PJ Harvey. Minutemen shit. The first listen I was "did I just hear 'I was beatin up babies'?" And the feel, the noises, the weird momentum - still hearing this as an album opener. If this replaced The Song, and everything else stayed the same, this would be a WHOLE other album.
dunnright00
The more I listen to this the more I like it! It's growing on me much faster than any of the other W(TA) tracks...

bjorn_skurj
I think "Dark Neon" is either the prequel or the sequel to "Bull Black Nova."
Moss
Hey yeah, he dumped the bloody Chevy Nova for a Dark Dodge Neon!
mfwahl
Not sure what to think about this one. I really like the arrangement and the bluesiness, but not sure about the songwriting. Hopefully we'll get some sort of ep with this disc as usual.
Sir Stewart
I like where the board avatar style is heading.
mpolak21
Monday morning quarterbacking: WTA is a better album in my humble opinion, if Dark Neon was put in between My Country and Solitaire, it picks the momentum of the second side up a little bit and Solitaire would sound even more majestic coming out of something raucous like Dark Neon-- they perfected this sequencing strategy on Yankee, but Spiders into Muzzle on Ghost is probably the best example of what I mean. --Mike
dunnright00
I like where the board avatar style is heading. Ok, for the record, I couldn't see Sir S's avatar at work so I wasn't sure what y'all were talking about! Now I do feel kinda awkward...
DAngerer09
if i got to sequence this album w/Dark Neon on it, it'd go like this: wilco (song)deeper downone wingbull black novayou and iyou never knowdark neoncountry disappeared sunny feelingi'll fight the end
mpolak21
the end A cover of the Beatles song? Kotche would own that drum solo. --Mike
DAngerer09
Ha! I would love to hear Jeff's vocals on this song too, and all the guitar solos throughout. Good thinking.

Shakespeare In The Alley
It's a decent enough song, but I'm glad it wasn't on the album. It's a lot like Let's Not Get Carried Away for me. I enjoy both songs, but couldn't imagine them on an album.

perfectecho
Have you read this thread? I think I'm the only one kissing the ground it walks on.I finally heard it, and love the track enough to say that it would have saved the whole second side of the record, which I enjoy less and less every time I hear it. The songs are phenominal, but the sequence is abysmal, just boring. So much more could have been done with Neon added and one more "rock" songs, then mixing it up a bit.
