lost highway
lost highway - There's no such thing as cutting in. I played HLHT yesterday. Sounds nice to my ears. I see it is one of his most critically-acclaimed solo releases. Right out of the gate, I really like "I Killed a Man Who Looks Like You" and "Airs". I think that or Fiction Man will be my next Pollard purchase.Cool thanks. I've made a conscious effort over the years to get to know the gbv classics, and I even worked through the reunion albums to put together a 25 track 'best of' for that era (which is still not quite as good). I suppose it's time to get to know the solo stuff better.
CortezTheKiller
the other Lifeguards record i like even better. Just snagged it today.
Doug
Evidently the latest issue of Magnet Magazine has some big news regarding GbV. Anybody got the new issue in hand? If so, please spill the beans.

CortezTheKiller
Thoughts on Ricked Wicky? I liked a couple of the songs off the first 2 releases. I just picked up Swimmer To A Liquid Armchair and, after three listens, I love it.

CortezTheKiller
Love it. Best non-GbV Bob stuff since Boston Spaceships, in my humble opinion. Yeah, it's a really good record. The only song I don't like is "Blind Slide". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtqizaMLMDQInstant Pollard classic.
CortezTheKiller
The best thing he's released since Zero To 99.This Pollard habit is starting to get expensive.
CortezTheKiller
I also noticed none of the Circus Devils stuff made it I'd appreciate it if you (or anyone else) could recommend a dozen or so Circus Devils songs I must have.

Moss
Those lists are insane. I could never do that. Not even sure I could pull together a top ten.
people are leaving
My current list is at 350+. I wish I had it handy as I would post it here. Unless, I overlooked them, here are a couple more to check out. Cosmos - Jar of Jam, Ton of Bricks >>> Zeppelin Commander (2009) The Takeovers - Turn to Red >>> Be It Not For the Serpentine Rain Dodger (2006) EDIT - I now see, Zeppelin Commander on your list. Nice ! While I do recommend you seeking out the other track, be warned, it sounds like it was recorded on a close&play. Lol

CortezTheKiller
Gave it a background listen a few days ago. Digging it with a proper listen as I type. The 1st track, "Excellent Extension", is, for lack of a better term, excellent. Edited to add that Track 4, "Fall Over Yourself", is another instant winner. Edited again to sing the praises of Track 7, "Deaf Dumb and Blind Girl". Pollard's Who worship strikes again. Another edit to express my strong like for Track 13, "Third Grade Aviator". Track 15, "Doctor Boyfriend" = another winner.
