Shakespeare In The Alley
Spoon do not ever do wrong. So yes, I'm psyched.

Maggie
Heads up for other bargain hunters like myself: Bestbuy.com has the album available for pre-order. The CD is $7.99, shipping is free. There are no record stores near my home, so I don't feel too bad about shopping at Best Buy.
Shakespeare In The Alley
Nice. Ordered.
Scalzunfield
Amazon has it for $7.99 as well but it's still the $25 minimum for free shipping. Good thing I pre-ordered last month with the new Vampire Weekend and Eels discs!
DAngerer09
10 more days... it's pretty unbelievable that this thing has been kept under wraps this long.
Shakespeare In The Alley
I think there's an NPR stream on the 11th.
solace
10 more days... it's pretty unbelievable that this thing has been kept under wraps this long. the promos they sent out were protected
Shakespeare In The Alley
Well than Merge should send messages to every other label around and give them step by step instructions of what they did to keep this album from leaking. I'm impressed. Disappointed, but that's just impatience speaking. Course it'll all be moot once it streams online, and the rip of the stream is sent around.
Smokestack Joe
i think it has a lot to do with Britt's ego.
Shakespeare In The Alley
It's egotistical to not want your music to leak before it's supposed to be out?
DAngerer09
I like the fact that it hasn't leaked yet. Regardless of whether you like them, remember when Radiohead's In Rainbows came out and everyone got to listen to it at the exact same time? That was a cool experience, I thought. To have everyone hear it on the same day and be able to talk about it right after listening....
Shakespeare In The Alley
Agreed. I'm 20 years old, so I'm not gonna throw out a nostalgia trip about the old days, but the fact that this hasn't leaked is cool. Of course I'd love to hear it. But the fact that it's release date will, as of now, actually mean something is great.
explodo
the promos they sent out were protectedAnd is it excellent?
ThisIsNowhere
the promos they sent out were protectedThat doesn't mean much in this age.
bigideas
was it Kid A where Radiohead sent journalists music players glued shut? if i recall, i think it still leaked. anywho, i'm anxious for new Spoon. i don't know that i was too crazy about the first single i heard though.i wonder how much they have to pay to use people's paintings/pictures for album covers? anyone ever heard?
Shakespeare In The Alley
It would all depend on the artist, the band, the painting/picture, the album, etc. I remember reading that Jenny Saville was going to charge 30,000 pounds to use her painting for the Manics' album The Holy Bible, then let them have it for free after hearing about the songs on the album. Shakespeare In The Alley
If you have an iPod touch, it seems the NPR stream is working now. I'm currently three songs in.

Shakespeare In The Alley
Well, I can't say much until I've listened to the whole thing more than once. But I'm not disappointed yet.
DAngerer09
i think the first 4 songs are pretty underwhelming...
