I didn't know where else to post this, but I had to share it. At approximately 1:00 A.M. this morning I awoke from what might be the greatest dream I've ever had. My wife and I were at a Wilco concert that was taking place in the commons area of my elementary school, and there were about 25 people there...a small, private show. At one point in the show, the band decided they needed a fourth guitarist onstage, and asked if anyone in the crowd knew how to play. Of course, I was the only one in the crowd who could, and so I was invited to play.

As if this opportunity wasn't exciting enough, when I joined the band onstage, I was presented with a vinyl copy of Being There that had 1) different cover art and 2) a third record with more songs. This was too good to be true. At the moment I plugged in a guitar and strapped it on, I suddenly awoke in bed and cursed whatever it was that disturbed this incredible dream. I tried to fall asleep again as quickly as possible, with the hopes of returning to the stage, but alas, the dream was gone.

Oh, how I dream of being there now...anyone else ever have a Wilco dream ruined?

I had one a while back...and ironically, it also involved me playing with the band. Glenn was looking for a replacement and even though I posses zero percussion know how, they asked me to play drums. Glenn was showing me all these weird Dr. Seuss-type instruments that were huge, and kind of scary, and impossible to play. After a drawn out, unproductive rehearsal in the Loft where I found it impossible to concentrate because, well, Jeff was there and even though he was a really nice guy, he ruh-heal-ly intimidated me. I woke up just before we were to go onstage for our first performance...I love Wilco dreams!!

The night before I saw Wilco live for the 1st time, I had this dream that I got to meet all the band before the show, and Jeff was carrying me around on his shoulders. We talked about "The Lion King" and drank diet coke. I also got several high fives from John for being able to spell his last name backwards and forwards. Then the show started but I was the only person in the audience. I woke up right before they finished the last song. Then, low and behold I got to meet the band the next night at the show!

Another time I has a dream that I ran into the band at the (now-defuct) supermarket of Winn-Dixie and went shopping for vegetables with Glenn, and after we bought what we needed we went back to the band's gold-plated mini-van. All the while Jeff and John were pushing each other around in the carts! :lol I think that one takes the cake.

I had a dream once that I was at the dream concert (Wilco, REM & Robyn Hitchcock), and in the middle of it, I realized that Jeff had waxed his eyebrows and looked like a drag queen w/o makeup. Disturbing.

Better dream -- I was in the family room in my childhood home, Jeff was in the kitchen eating pizza. Next thing I know, we were snuggling on the couch. He was wearong a red flannel shirt, jeans and white socks, smelled like Downy, and I could feel the flannel and his whiskers. Sweet...

"She lifted up her shirt at the battle of the bands. He twirled his sticks. She helped him to the van."

:lol i didn't even consider that! :lol

he was driving in the dream though, and we almost hit some people. probably one of the best dreams i have ever had

I've had the "jamming on stage with Wilco" dream, and I recall it not being all that great of an experience because I was mortified that I would mess up the guitar part or flub the lyrics in front of 10,000 people. :hmm

Even still, I also remember being a little disappointed when I woke up to discover it wasn't real.

Thanks Todd! God, I only remember ONE of those dreams now! I'm a little embarrassed but laughing. I guess you can't help what you dream, eh?!? ;)

Last night I had a dream that me and a couple of other people were helping to scrub some sinks for Jeff and Sue. The sinks were outdoors in the country and made of white enamel and old weather-worn wood. I had just finished cleaning one sink and started on the next when I suddenly thought that I had been using the wrong kind of cleaner, but it turned out the bottle was just mislabeled. All of this happened while we were in the middle of playing a round of golf.

Not sure what a psychiatrist/psychologist would make of this, but was sufficiently disturbed that I needed to post it as therapy. Anyway, last night I dreamt that I was invited to join Wilco as a full member, although on what instrument was not entirely clear. This of course seemed completely natural and plausible during the dream.

We were rehearsing for a gig the following evening in an old rented house (it might have been Headley Grange, but I wasn't sure). A few hours prior to showtime, everybody decided to have a nap. I took this opportunity to get in the van (the only obviously available means of transport) and drive to the venue, leaving the others stranded.

Now here's the interesting part: a few minutes prior to showtime, with me the only member of Wilco actually ready to go at the venue, the remaining 6 members of the band arrived, each one driving a Banana Buggy (from the Banana Splits 1970's TV show) and looking distinctly less than happy.

Jeff in particular, gave me a withering look as he drove past me.

I have had many dreams featuring Jeff, but in my favorite one we were at an amusement park and rode a roller-coaster together. Shortly after the dream, a good friend was at a JT solo show and got a copy of Sunken Treasure autographed for me... My friend told Jeff about the roller-coaster dream and he signed it with "Was I in your dreams?" !!! Its one of my most prized possessions.

Wow, I'm jealous of your dream! Love the olfactory detail...

Is it weird that I can dream of smells? Unlike Robyn Hitchock, who often dreams of trains.
