Gabe32
Awesome find. Never saw that one before. That video lead me to this one ... Check out Tweedy's hair! I guess I haven't seen a lot of 2000-ish videos. Weird style...
jff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2WQQvNgitM I was lucky to see that when it aired. I think I still have it on VHS. I would love to have heard Tony Margerita's conversation with the LA musicians union in which he stipulated that the string section had to be as hot as possible. I wonder if he had to pay extra for them than for whatever schlubs were available.

Jay's coat should have been sold at the merch table.
Guest Speed Racer
I think they actually have a special union for hot string players; I've rarely seen a televised pop-orchestral arrangement with ugly ones - at least, the ugly ones didn't get screen time. Some Celine Dion television performance comes to mind - lots of that shit on VH1 from the '90s.
Hixter
The violinist in the foreground is Nels' former Geraldine Fibbers bandmate, Jessy Greene. http://www.jessygreene.com/
nalafej
Jessy is on Being There, Down With Wilco and a few others I believe, right?
Beltmann
I was lucky to see that when it aired. I think I still have it on VHS. Same here, but my VHS copy is in very bad shape. But isn't this on one of the JHamm DVDs? I'm pretty sure I have that, too.
Guest Speed Racer
Yeah, all of Wilco's television appearances through the SBS stuff, plus or minus a few W(TA) appearances, are on JHamm's discs.

I've never heard of this. Is this a homemade compilation, or something? And speaking of youtube/Wilco tv appearances, why has it been difficult to find Wilco's Jay-era Austin City Limits appearance? Or, for that matter, Sessions at West 54?
Analogman
Look up: The DVD Project.
Guest Speed Racer
The website is actually down because Jesse was having some troubles with it. Jff - PM me if you're interested in some DVDs - I've got about 100. I'm painfully slow sometimes, but I have some computer-oriented work to do these days and might have a better chance at getting you something before you join the AARP. Analogman
There use to be a pinned thread about The DVD Project - which I thought was a great idea. I think we have a few up at The Wilco Archive.
Tweedling
Billy Bragg had an integral role in that performance making it obvious why he had top billing. I think that it is actually "The Section" an LA based group that has played on a bunch of peoples records. They play used to play Largo often so i'd imagine Glen knew them if no one else did. Good group.
Reedo
I was browsing through the vimeo site and found this backstage footage of Wilco.....pretty cool to hear these songs in a different light. It was shot by Zoran Orlic, I think he takes a lot of the photos that are up on wilcoworld. http://vimeo.com/4438593 peeeeaaaace

cryptique
Billy Bragg had an integral role in that performance making it obvious why he had top billing. The album is credited to "Billy Bragg & Wilco," so... Wilco would be just as extraneous if they'd played something like "Ingrid Bergman."

When I see that type of stuff I wish they had that for Led Zeppelin.

It would be great if someone could make the DVD Project stuff available again through a torrent or something. I've got about 10 of them but there's still loads of good stuff I would love to get my hands on.

It's seems to be mainly a B&P through the mail sort of deal.
