kidsmoke
Credit for this thread goes to our lovely Sue K. (known here on VC as "holyshit") who composed and shared the following lovely bit of Solid Sound rememberizing: Weathered walls embracethe giddy celebration---Wilco are we all. Isn't that beautiful? I know that all of us who attended have hearts and minds full of snapshot memories of everything we saw and did and were a part of. Please feel free to use this thread to unleash your inner creative beast, adhering of course to the time honored format of 5 syllables/then 7 syllables, then/5 syllables. Oh! Hey! I feel a haiku coming on! First, five syllablesthen seven syllables, thenFive more syllables Oh go ahead and scoff. I thought it was brilliant. But artistic brilliance is rarely recognized in the artist's own time. I'll bet that haiku will be famous once I'm gone. Hmph. Ok, now for one that is actually about the Solid Sound Festival. I call it: Dunk Tank A dry Wilco guyThree balls for just ten dollarsA wet Wilco guy! Alright, attendees, go to it! Tell us about your festival experience, in seventeen syllables. Post as many haikus as you like, let it all out!

Albert Tatlock
Once I had the idea 5 minutes ago I just had to go with it despite it being disqualilfied according to the rules. My minds got to do what my minds got to do. "You Are Trying To Dunk My Ass" I am an American MoCa Mass dunkeeI'm a'splashin' down the angled shuteI'm wiping out in the plunge pool blinkingWhat was I thinking that I decided to do? Let's forget about the sting-eyed chlorineLet's undress just like drip-dryed stragglersThis is not a joke, so please stop smilingWhat was I thinking when I said it wasn't cold? I want to glide through that flume ride dreamingPitch it from the near side, baby hit the sight! You were so right when you said that I'd be drinkingHot tea from the thermos that you made last night I want to hold you in my shivering puddleYou're a useful helper, towel me down quickTake out my cell-phone because I do believe its ruined nowWhat was I thinking when I said I'd go? I'd always thought that if I wore a NudiePeople would love me and let me get off freeThen I fell again and the suit kept shrinkingWhat was I thinking when I got back on the tee? You are trying to dunk my assYou are trying to dunk my assBut still I'd be lying if I said I'd got my trunks onYou are trying to dunk my ass Disposable clothes were an optionBut Glenn hid them when I went off to the looPeriscope up again with more splutteringWhat was I thinking that I decided to do? It's been a while and the wind's picking up nowI've got the chills and twenty minutes till I'm freeAll this flowing water makes my mind kinda drift nowThink no one will notice if I have a sly pee? Dunk spreeI'm the man on a dunk spree (to fade) OK, I can feel the thread police closing in, so my haiku:- So far far awayDo they expect me to swim? The thoughtless bastards! - Which I hope you can tell is firmly tongue in cheek. I've enjoyed reading all your reports. Ta very much.

Magnetized
As I struggle to hold on to the blissful feelings of that perfect weekend, now half a month away, I find I can bring some of the feeling back by putting on my headphones before I go to bed and falling asleep listening to Jeff's solo show on Sunday. It's implanted some beautiful dreams in my head, too. so. . . Dreams and memoriesCome flooding through my headphonesFest feelings persist!
