Solid Sound Haiku

Recommended Posts

Credit for this thread goes to our lovely Sue K. (known here on VC as "holyshit") who composed and shared the following lovely bit of Solid Sound rememberizing:

Weathered walls embrace

the giddy celebration---

Wilco are we all.

Isn't that beautiful? :wub

I know that all of us who attended have hearts and minds full of snapshot memories of everything we saw and did and were a part of. Please feel free to use this thread to unleash your inner creative beast, adhering of course to the time honored format of 5 syllables/then 7 syllables, then/5 syllables. Oh! Hey! I feel a haiku coming on!

First, five syllables

then seven syllables, then

Five more syllables

Oh go ahead and scoff. I thought it was brilliant. But artistic brilliance is rarely recognized in the artist's own time. I'll bet that haiku will be famous once I'm gone. Hmph. :P

Ok, now for one that is actually about the Solid Sound Festival. I call it:

Dunk Tank

A dry Wilco guy

Three balls for just ten dollars

A wet Wilco guy!

Alright, attendees, go to it! Tell us about your festival experience, in seventeen syllables. Post as many haikus as you like, let it all out! :rock

Once I had the idea 5 minutes ago I just had to go with it despite it being disqualilfied according to the rules. My minds got to do what my minds got to do.

"You Are Trying To Dunk My Ass"

I am an American MoCa Mass dunkee

I'm a'splashin' down the angled shute

I'm wiping out in the plunge pool blinking

What was I thinking that I decided to do?

Let's forget about the sting-eyed chlorine

Let's undress just like drip-dryed stragglers

This is not a joke, so please stop smiling

What was I thinking when I said it wasn't cold?

I want to glide through that flume ride dreaming

Pitch it from the near side, baby hit the sight!

You were so right when you said that I'd be drinking

Hot tea from the thermos that you made last night

I want to hold you in my shivering puddle

You're a useful helper, towel me down quick

Take out my cell-phone because I do believe its ruined now

What was I thinking when I said I'd go?

I'd always thought that if I wore a Nudie

People would love me and let me get off free

Then I fell again and the suit kept shrinking

What was I thinking when I got back on the tee?

You are trying to dunk my ass

You are trying to dunk my ass

But still I'd be lying if I said I'd got my trunks on

You are trying to dunk my ass

Disposable clothes were an option

But Glenn hid them when I went off to the loo

Periscope up again with more spluttering

What was I thinking that I decided to do?

It's been a while and the wind's picking up now

I've got the chills and twenty minutes till I'm free

All this flowing water makes my mind kinda drift now

Think no one will notice if I have a sly pee?

Dunk spree

I'm the man on a dunk spree (to fade)

OK, I can feel the thread police closing in, so my haiku:-

So far far away

Do they expect me to swim?

The thoughtless bastards!

- Which I hope you can tell is firmly tongue in cheek. I've enjoyed reading all your reports. Ta very much.

Masses flock to MOCA

For the love of our wilco

Embraced by the green mounds

-------------

Wilco is my contentment

Happiness, joy and smiling eyes

How to fight loneliness...

-----------

Wilco loves us baby

Friends, strangers, atmosphere

Inside jumps for joy!!

------------

Solo journey to solid sound

Overwhelmed by beauty

Heart on my sleeve, head in the clouds

As I struggle to hold on to the blissful feelings of that perfect weekend, now half a month away, I find I can bring some of the feeling back by putting on my headphones before I go to bed and falling asleep listening to Jeff's solo show on Sunday. It's implanted some beautiful dreams in my head, too. so. . .

Dreams and memories

Come flooding through my headphones

Fest feelings persist!
