u2roolz
did they appear to accept it?. they're not being shown in australia on tv. congrats Jeff! They only ever show like 8 or 10 awards get accepted. In fact, I don't even think that they had a crawl or freeze frames of the other 40 or so awards.
bböp
did they appear to accept it?. they're not being shown in australia on tv. congrats Jeff! oh and how come no one's said "fuck the grammys!" There was a "pre-telecast ceremony" broadcast on Grammy.com, where most of the awards were given out. It was held in a building adjacent to the Staples Center. To be honest, it was kind of a weird spectacle with a lot of empty seats and the presenters not seeming to even know who was there to accept awards and not a lot of the time. But anyway, I turned it on in time to see Mavis sing with Cyndi Lauper and a couple other ladies -- couldn't tell you what song they did. And when she won, Mavis did get to come up and accept her award. She was very emotional, tears running down her cheeks, saying it had been a long time coming. She thanked her dad and Jeff and Tony Margherita and "the Wilco band" (as well as Anti- Records and some other people). She said that Jeff and Wilco had brought the young people, college kids and stuff, back to her. She said she had always seen them in the crowd, but even more so now. So that was cool to see and hear. Unfortunately, they couldn't even manage to get the mike adjusted to an appropriate level for her, so it sort of blocked her face most of the time. No sign of Jeff. But yeah, so glad to see Mavis win! It's really unbelievable that Mavis had never won before (the Staples Singers had really never won anything???) and Neil Young won his first music award (he had only previously won for album packaging). Neil also was there in person to accept during the "pre-telecast," apparently.
