Ryman meetup--Saturday and/or Sunday!

Recommended Posts

my wife and i + another couple will be there for both show. nashville is a great little place. pretty much everything you'd need is within walking distance of the ryman, plus there are some cool places you can drive to.

two of those places are crema coffee up on rutledge hill and yazoo brewery over on division. visiting the yazoo brewery is a must. the room is open till 8 sat night (fill you up a growler to go for after the show); of course you could also tour.

there are some neat bars/dives to duck into as well...i could list several, but part of the fun is finding a little place for yourself, like a treasure hunt. steer clear of big river grille & brewing. in my opinion, it's mediocre at best. broadway brewhouse has a huge selection on draft. the branch over closer to vandy seems to have an even more eclectic draft mix, such as stone, dogfish head (until very recently when they stopped distributing in TN), etc. over in that area as well (vandy campus/midtown/village), there are a plethora of neat places: noshville, jj's, pie in the sky (8lb pizza!!), satco, and provence.

i could go on and on. i really love that place, i hope you guys enjoy!

Will Tootsie's be too crowded to even consider right before the show? I gotta go in there at some point, though. And Welch79, I get your point about the fun of discovering places for yourself, but when you are short on time, a list of solid recommendations can be very helpful. If you read this, would consider giving us such a list of the best dives and bars close to the venue for before and after show?

I don't post often but I live here in Nashville and I'm going to both shows. I am so excited - I can't believe the weekend is here already!

I don't know if it's been covered here yet, but the Autumn Defense is playing an acoustic gig at the Family Wash tonight - 9ish - I think it's booked solid but it's just a $7 cover and it's a fun, small venue.

Here are some places to check out while you're in town:

For pricier higher-end cocktails and hipsterness - No. 308 and Holland House - fun, creative menus but even more fun drinks and cocktails. Dino's, right next door to No. 308, is a greasy-spoon, smoky, dive-bar/burger-joint - so you can experience both ends of the hipster spectrum if you go there! Mas Tacos Por Favor is across the street from Holland House - they've got wonky hours but it's worth making a visit - outstanding tacos - byob.

Hillsboro Village has a bunch of fun bars and restaurants - it's pretty heavy on the college scene and all that goes along with that. Boscos makes decent beer and they've got a reasonably priced menu.

If it's beer you're after - Yazoo is where it's at - I don't know their hours but they've got a fun website and tours and a huge taproom - definitely worth a visit if you're a hop-head. Hands down the best beer in Nashville!

I prefer Robert's Western World to Toosties though they are both fun - Robert's just has a better mix of higher quality music if you ask me (which you didn't). The opposite side of the street has smokier, but cheaper bars - the beers and shots are considerably cheaper in the joints across the street but the music isn't as good and I'm not a fan of smoke.

The Flying Saucer has a ton of beers on tap - regional chain - OK service - bar food menu - good variety of beer. The Beer Cellar downtown has a similar mix of beers but it's less trendy and more touristy.

East Nashville - this is where it's at as far as I'm concerned - I'm a bit of an East Nashville snob - 5 points has 3 Crow Bar, Red Door East, Beyond the Edge, Batter'd and Fried (none of them are outstanding for any reason on their own but the bar hopping was fun (if I can recall back to my pre-kid days)) - further up Woodland, you've got Lipstick Lounge and Mad Donna's - fun karaoke nights and fun crowds - hook a left onto 14th and a right onto Eastland and follow that to Eastland Cafe - great drinks and menu - a little on the pricy/fancy side - Ugly Mugs (Great coffee), Jeni's Ice Cream (unreal ice cream) Silly Good - great restaurant, Cooper's on Porter - fun beer/restaruant. Further on down the road, you'll run into the Family Wash - it all comes full circle.

That's probably far more info than anyone wanted, but it was free. Let me know if you want to know about anything in particular, I'll try to help.

Way too excited!!!!!!

I'm going to both nights with two friends. I live here in Nashville. We are definitely gonna try to hang around before the show to try and catch the band out back or something. I have a friend who used to do stagehand work for the Ryman so he knows alot of the guys that work there I'm hoping he'll be able to get us some bonus access :)

I may make an appearence but can't promise anything because I'll be with three other domesticated males who are itching just as much if not worse than I to breath the air of freedom and debauchery for the 3 days that out wives are allowing us to. Besides the 2 shows there will be no time restraints!!!!!!!(except for fantasy football lineup deadline of course)

so i left during outta site outta mind and went around back at the ryman to catch jeff getting into the car to leave. there were barely any people back there i was surprised. anyway he got straight in the car and dipped out. but hey i got to see him up close at least. awesome setlist tonight i was so happy to hear Poor Places as the second song. One of my favorites. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!! Does Jeff ever stop and sign something for a fan? I don't want to bother the guy but if I have the opportunity to ask I couldn't pass it up. I'd just like to shake his hand even.

one sunday morning - poor places - art of almost was a hell of a way to open.

I agree - they set the tone early and really kept up the pace all night - very good show - great crowd, too.

Nick's set was a treat! Anyone know if he's been mixing up his sets nightly? I'll probably get there in time to catch him either way, just curious.

Last night was rockin'! Wonder what's in store for tonight?!?
