sonicshoulder
I haven't been this upset at a concert since Blame it on the Rain started skippin. I was 3 people away from the merch table when the guy in front bought the last 3...yeah I said 3. I would estimate at least half of the people walking away, if buying posters, had bought at least 2. It was ridiculous. Up until Saturday I was unaware of the lure of these official Hatch Show prints. I really couldn't care less who made it. The only shows I buy posters at are my WIlco shows and looks like this one will go unrepresented. The number floating around was they had made 200. I made sure I got there early Sunday but would really have like to gotten both nights. BTW said poster eventually sold for $390 today.
welch79
for as much as they cared about preventing the secondary market from obtaining tickets...they sure fed em with allowing folk to buy more than one print. it's a damn shame that some schmo probably bought one for $30 and is now trying to fund his weekend by scrapping the two (!) extras he bought just for the sheer purpose of making a shitload of dough. despicable. some would disagree, say it's capitalism or what-have-you. i still say despicable. SarahC
That's terrible! We only got a night 1 print- decided not to get night 2 simply because it looked TOO similar to night 1. Though, we got out to the Ryman at around 4pm with the specific purpose of waiting for doors just to get the hatch print, because I knew it was gonna be rough. It is ridiculous that we had to do that, but we wanted to be sure we got one. I think the ATL poster was a bit cooler to be honest, although, I bet not as rare/limited When a print is that limited, they SHOULD put a 1 per person cap on it for sure. Totally a dick move for people to stick them up on ebay like that. Sorry for all ya'll that didn't get one/were so close
scottwok
My girlfriend and I went to both shows in Nashville at the Ryman.... we missed out on the poster for night 1 and got there when the doors opened for night 2 and were able to get a poster... people were running up the stairs to get to the merch table... it was kind of crazy... it eventually sold out. I looked on eBay hoping to get a poster for night 1 but the prices are crazy, especially for night 1... a night 1 poster sold for $390... a pair of night 1 & 2 sold for $287! Has anyone ever seen any other Wilco posters sell for this much on the secondary market? I hope the prices come down so that I can get one... This is really crazy... Here is the link for what is active... a night one is up to $212.50 right now... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=wilco+hatch&_sacat=0&_odkw=wilco+hatch&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
jff
I thought you could buy these things directly from the band website. If not, they should make a deal with their poster artists to make more available. Why let the secondary market gouge everyone when there's a super easy and profitable way for the band and poster artists to make money. Total no-brainer.
Preferred B
It has to do with Hatch Show Print. From http://www.ryman.com...tch/index.html :The Hatch Show Print style is closely associated with the Ryman because our shared history runs deep. Hatch creates uniquely designed posters for nearly every event held on our historic stage. These limited edition Hatch prints sell out quickly and rarely are reproduced, making them instant collector’s items. Each print is a work of art created using the same letterpress technique today as the Hatch brothers used back in 1879. The hand-carved blocks that form Hatch posters are laid out in reverse on plates, inked and run through antique letterpress machines by hand. I mentioned in one of the After the Show threads that there was talk at the merch table of trying to get the posters reprinted and put them up online. But I'm sure it depends on how Hatch feels about that, and whether they can accommodate it.
Shakespeare In The Alley
Generally speaking, letterpress shops rarely reprint things. It takes away from the appeal of the process in the first place.

Dumbass move letting people buy multiples.
winterland121072
was there a poster for October 2?

sonicshoulder
They are showing up on Ebay all over now and going for significantly less. Guessing there was an initial panic on the $380 one.
Divemistress of the Dark
Some jerks stole ours from night 1 (long story short, very un-Wilco like fans directly behind us, skunk drunk, screaming, talking through Nick Lowe etc.) They gave us a hard time through the whole show (especially after we asked them not to talk through Nick Lowe - I am a HUGE fan and have been waiting literally years to see him at the Ryman. It was just bad luck - we all know jerks exist in the world but it sucks when they're fans of good music and should know better.) We're pretty sure they took it out of our bag, just hoping they weren't the ones making $400 off it. At least we also had tix for night 2, which was also a great show, and got a poster that night. But agreed - they should limit merch a la Third Man (Jack White's record company in Nashville, that only allows 1 item sales for any of their limited-edition posters, 7" singles, etc.)
