remphish1
http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2011/12/the_afghan_whig.html YES!!!
tinnitus photography
at the expense of GBV, no thanks. well, i'm sure they are not related, but just having spent the $ for the UK one next year, i would much rather see GBV again than the whigs.
remphish1
Why is at GBV expense? I have seen both GBV and Whigs back in the 90's GBV is fun and all but the Whigs is one of my all time favorite concert expierences! Have you seen the Whigs before?
tinnitus photography
the Whigs are now filling in the Sunday slot for the UK ATP that GBV was supposed to play. I've seen the Whigs once, back in '92 or so.

I've seen the Whigs once, back in '92 or so. Here is some GBV news...http://www.brooklynv...y_voice_17.htmlYeah I am not sure it is the Whigs fault but who knows... all I know is I have been hoping the Whigs would reunite. I caught them on the 1965 Tour..I went to the show knowing 1 song and left as a big fan!
tinnitus photography
it's definitely not the Whigs' fault, just a cruel coincidence.
Shakespeare In The Alley
my god. magnificent. i hope they play more shows.
ih8music
not to be a dick, but the years seem to have taken their toll on Dulli. Will they even resemble the fury of the old Whigs -- or will they just be the Old Whigs?
Shakespeare In The Alley
If the Twilight Singers are any indication, Dulli's still got everything that made the Whigs so great.
PopTodd
I really wish that I got from the Whigs what so many others seem to. They make their fans so very ecstatic, I just never was really so moved by them, despite having tried many times. However, it's been about a decade since I've really given them a listen, so I think maybe I'll try again. Gentlemen is the place to start, right?
ih8music
Gentlemen, Black Love & 1965. All fantastic albums.
remphish1
Bought my Afghan Whigs concert ticket for October in NYC!
solace
Black Love is my favorite
ih8music
What I love about their albums is that they're albums -- they have a definite beginning, middle & end. So satisfying to sit down and listen to the whole thing vs. track-by-track.
Shakespeare In The Alley
agreed. you can tell that dulli views albums like movies by the spot on sequencing and "shot on location" references in the liner notes. gentlemen, black love and 1965 are their best, but congregation and up in it have plenty of fine tracks too. all in all these guys were among the best rock and roll bands of their time. sad to see them still underrated. being a rock and roll/soul band in grunge's heyday couldn't have helped. i like to think of the whigs as the best of the stones mixed with the best of prince. great band. im crossing my fingers for more us shows. Sandoz
I saw them a couple nights ago here in Portland. It was a great show! Lots of faves from Gentleman and Black Love. The new album is pretty good too.
Oil Can Boyd
Wow - this is not just a negative review (by Jim DeRogatis) but it verges on being petty and unprofessional. http://www.wbez.org/blogs/jim-derogatis/2014-04/return-afghan-whigs-110063

chuckrh
always welcome new material from Greg Dulli & company. i've been playing the reissues of "Gentlemen" & "Black Love". "Black" is a desert island disc for me. The remaster is stellar.

chuckrh
RIP Dave. He also played fine guitar with the Twilight Singers & Gutter Twins amongst others. Far too young.
